Location: Highmark Stadium, Orchard Park, NY

Network: FOX

Philadelphia Eagles

Quarterback

Jalen Hurts: START, QB1

In a near carbon copy performance from the week prior, Jalen Hurts threw two touchdowns, under 200 yards, and added 40 on the ground for another solid yet unspectacular performance. Not much of a takeaway for Hurts, other than he remains a must-start even in a bottom-five matchup against Buffalo. He has arguably the safest fantasy floor among the elite quarterbacks.

Running Back

Saquon Barkley: START, RB1
Tank Bigsby: SIT

He’s been one of the season’s biggest busts, but we’re getting vintage Saquon Barkley at just the right time. Barkley scored in three straight games, averaging 18.9 points per game over that span. It was just his third game this season, averaging over 5 yards per carry, taking 21 attempts for 132 yards and a score. Saquon should continue his recent resurgence in a top-five matchup against the Bills next week and has a chance to redeem himself from his early-season struggles, potentially carrying teams to a fantasy championship.

Wide Receiver | Tight End

A.J. Brown: START, WR1
DeVonta Smith: START, WR1
Dallas Goedert: SIT

A.J. Brown didn’t come down with a touchdown, but he did secure nine of 12 targets for 95 yards and 18.5 fantasy points. It was DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert who caught the scores, with both totaling under 50 yards, but six catches for Smith and three for Goedert were enough to get them into double-digit fantasy points. Buffalo presents a bottom-10 matchup for both position groups, but consider Brown and Smith in their typical WR1 and WR2 roles for Week 17. But I’d suggest avoiding Goedert against the Bills, however, who have allowed the second-fewest points to tight ends this season.

Defense/Special Teams

Philadelphia Eagles: SIT

Normally, you would start the Eagles in any matchup. Facing Josh Allen and James Cook III make that a risky proposition, one not worth taking with a fantasy championship on the line.

Buffalo Bills

Quarterback: START, QB1

Josh Allen: START, QB1

Even reigning MVP Josh Allen wasn’t able to escape Week 16’s list of injured starters, but thankfully, he was able to return after a foot injury scare. But if you were looking at the box score, you may not be able to tell. Allen completed just 12 of 19 passes for 130 yards and no touchdowns, the third time in four games he’s had totaled under 200 passing yards.  The Bills were able to beat the Browns thanks to their defense and run game, and Allen wasn’t asked to do much. Just in case you’re concerned, don’t hesitate to start him this week against Philly. Allen will be just fine.

Running Back

James Cook III: START, RB1
Ty Johnson: SIT
Ray Davis: SIT

James Cook III is a permanent fixture in your starting lineup, but did you know that his nose for the end zone has placed him in the Buffalo history books alongside O.J. Simpson? In the 2024 season, Cook rushed for 16 touchdowns, officially tying the franchise’s single-season rushing touchdown record set back in 1975, proving he is one of the most lethal red-zone threats the Bills have ever had.

Wide Receiver

Khalil Shakir: FLEX, WR4
Brandin Cooks: SIT
Joshua Palmer: SIT

Khalil Shakir once again led the way for Buffalo’s pass catchers, but that was enough to earn a total of 7.4 fantasy points. YEESH. While I don’t expect the passing game to be anywhere near as catastrophic as it was last week, Philly does present a challenge, allowing the third-fewest fantasy points to the position. Shakir’s role and the top receiver for Allen keep him in play as a flex, but his already-mediocre floor is even lower than usual.

Tight End

Dalton Kincaid: START, Borderlin TE1

Dalton Kincaid was held without a catch for the first time this season against the Browns, and things won’t get any easier facing the Eagles. Philadelphia usurped Buffalo as the toughest fantasy matchup for opposing tight ends. While Kincaid’s role in the offense keeps him a startable option, he’s more of a borderline play than a must-start.

Defense/Special Teams

Buffalo Bills: SIT

The Bills are tied with the browns for the sixth-highest points per game allowed in their last three.
