Washington Football Team

Quarterback

Taylor Heinicke (Sit, QB2)

Taylor Heinicke has been fine for fantasy this season. The problem is that he lacks the big game numbers to make him viable as a streamer. He only has 3 games with 3 total touchdowns and only once on the season has he thrown for more than 300 yards. He does have some rushing upside and isn’t afraid of contact. He comes into week 12 riding a 2 game win streak in which he beat two very solid defenses in Tampa and Carolina. He draws the Seattle Seahawks who CBS rates as the 12th best in not giving up points to the quarterback position. The game itself looks to be a low-scoring event and the Seahawk’s offense hasn’t looked great the past 2 weeks. I don’t expect a ton of opportunities for Heinicke but I think he will have at least 1 touchdown. I think you can find better streaming options in week 12.

Running Backs

Antonio Gibson (Start, RB1), J.D. McKissic (Start, Flex) Jaret Patterson (Sit)

Antonio Gibson has been on a great pace the past 2 games since the bye. He has 24 and 19 carries respectively. He scored 2 touchdowns in week 10 against a stout Tampa defense. He comes into week 12 staring across the line at a Seahawks defense that is in the bottom 3 in giving up points to the running back position. The Football team has been a top third in the league in the amount of rushing play percentage. Coach Ron Rivera wants to establish the run and use Gibson, J.D. McKissic, and Jaret Patterson in the game. Patterson has come on of late getting more carries each week. Gibson has been and will continue to be an RB1 against a weak Seattle D and in a game where if the Seahawks cant score, the Football Team will be running the ball. McKissic continues to get opportunities in the passing game. Since the bye, he only has 6 targets but before the bye, he saw 10,6 and 8 targets in weeks 6 through 8. Patterson isn’t someone you can start right now but could see a large increase if one of the other two were to go down.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

Terry McLaurin (Start, WR1), DeAndre Carter (Start, Flex), Curtis Samuel (Sit), Adam Humphries (Sit), Logan Thomas (Sit), Rickey Seals-Jones (Sit)

The wide receiver group for Washington is a list of names that before the season no one really knew outside of Terry McLaurin. Curtis Samuel has been missing time with a groin injury and could return in week 12. He hasn’t played since week 5 and hasn’t produced anything. DeAndre Carter has come on strong lately scoring in the last 3 games. He continues to be a flex play based on production and playing on 90% + of the team’s snaps. McLaurin is a must-start. He is averaging 5.4 receptions per game and has 5 touchdowns on the season. After McLaurin and Carter, there isn’t much else to be excited about. We don’t know who the tight end will be. Logan Thomas may return. Rickey Seals-Jones has been banged up. Whoever lines up at tight end doesn’t project to get much work. If it’s Thomas you could make an argument to play him but I would want to wait a week.

Seattle Seahawks

Quarterback

Russell Wilson (Start, QB1)

Russell Wilson has been playing like crap since returning from an injury. He is just over 50% completion percentage the past two weeks and hasn’t thrown a touchdown but has 2 interceptions. He barely broke 200 yards in one of those games. It’s a far cry from players who started the year. The good news for Wilson owners and Seahawk fans is that they face the Washington Football Team in week 12. CBS has them rated as the team giving up the most points to the QB position. It’s a get-right game for Mr. Unlimited. The Seahawks aren’t playing for much right now but there is still a ton of pride on that team. I expect Wilson to return to his QB1 form and be a saving grace for owners who might be relying on him to make the fantasy playoff push.

Running Backs

Alex Collins (Start, Flex), Deejay Dallas (Sit) Rashaad Penny (Sit) Travis Homer (Sit)

It was a big loss for the Seahawks when news broke last week that Chris Carson will need season-ending neck surgery. It gives the lead back role to Alex Collins who has been in that role for 6 weeks now. The issue for Collins and the rest of the rushing game is the lead-back role doesn’t get much volume in this offense. Collins has only 3 games of 15 or more carries in a game and only once was he at 20 or more. Combined with the low volume there is little production. Collins only has 2 rushing touchdowns on the year. Facing the Washington rushing defense is better than it used to be with Chase Young out for the year but it’s still a tough matchup. After Collins, there is a group of guys that seem to rotate who will be the backup. Travis Homer played 51% of the snaps in week 10 but only 10% in week 11. Deejay Dallas played 37% of the team’s snaps in week 11. He scored his first touchdown and rushed for 25 yards on 4 carries. Not the volume you want to see out of a running back. Rashaad Penny left the week 11 game with an injury so his status for the Week 12 matchup will be up in the air. He does get the extra day of rest since it’s a Monday night game.

Wide Receivers/ Tight Ends

Tyler Lockett (Start, WR2), D.K. Metcalf (Start, WR1), Gerald Everett (Start), Will Dissly (Sit), Freddie Swain (Sit)

If Wilson is going to get right in week 12 then so will the star wide receiver duo of D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. When Wilson returned in week 10 Metcalf saw his targets jump from the 6 range to 8 both weeks. He looks to be the first read for Wilson. Lockett is close behind with 13 targets over the past 2 weeks. Lockett is much more of a boom play with having 23 yards than 115 yards. Metcalf seems much more consistent having 26 and 31 yards. I know that no one is looking at those yardage numbers and being super excited besides the 115 but with Wilson shaking off the rest of the rust against a horrible pass defense, both those wideouts will be fine fantasy plays. After those 2 there isn’t anyone really worth knowing. Freddie Swain hasn’t made a catch on his 4 targets over the past 2 weeks. He does have 7 red-zone targets which are second on the team.  Tight end Gerald Everett has matched Lockett’s target numbers and has produced more on his opportunities. Will Dissly does steal some of his opportunities and could steal a touchdown in any game. Both have 1 touchdown on the season. I’m expecting the Seahawks passing game to get back to form this week.
