- There might not be a more fun position to watch all season long than tight end. In week one, I am expecting a surprise TE1 overall, with Dalton Kincaid finding himself in a dream matchup against the Cardinals and my favorite to lead the team in targets. The rest of the top tier should make it a close race, which means at least half of most leagues are going to ride high with their tight-end performance.
- The next tier of TEs may be more transient from week to week, but there are two names that we have to talk about. First, Kyle Pitts. In week one, he draws a tough matchup, but not one that should stop him from putting up his first TE1 finish of the season. The schedule gets easier over the next few weeks for Pitts, so even if the first two weeks don’t give elite production, hold steady. The other name we have to talk about is Taysom Hill. The Saints’ new offense is going to continue to use Hill all over the formation. Hill should see a ton of usage in the red zone as a runner and receiver, and in week one, he gets the Carolina Panthers. There is a little uncertainty, which is why he falls to TE10, but I would not be surprised to see Hill frequent the top of this list all season long if he can stay healthy.
- The final tier for week one has a few names that could surprise me, but I am not betting on it to pay off early. The one name I need to highlight is Isaiah Likely. Likely was the TE1 overall in his final games last season without Mark Andrews. Of Course, Andrews is healthy, but he may get some work out of the slot and as the second or third option in the passing game if Todd Monken is to be believed. If you have a spot on your bench that you aren’t locked into, Likley is an excellent add before week one, just in case he pops.
