New York Giants
Quarterback
Russell Wilson: SIT
Having Russell Wilson under center is a bigger boost from an actual football perspective than it is for fantasy. Mr. Unlimited should remain limited to your bench, even in Superflex leagues.
Running Back
Tyrone Tracy Jr: FLEX, RB3
Cam Skattebo: FLEX, RB4
The hamstring injury suffered by rookie Cam Skattebo only delayed his inevitable takeover of the Giants’ backfield. Tyrone Tracy Jr. enters Week 1 as the Giants’ starting running back and will see the majority of touches out of the backfield. He’s a low-end RB2 at best.
Wide Receiver
Malik Nabers: START, WR1
Wan’Dale Robinson: FLEX, WR4
Darius Slayton: SIT
There’s a chance for someone other than Malik Nabers to emerge as a reliable fantasy starter with the expected improved play under center. But until we see if consistently, Nabers is the only one you can start with remotely with any confidence. Wan’Dale Robinson is a low-upside FLEX, but really only in PPR leagues, and Darius Slayton should remain on the bench or waiver wire.
Tight End
Theo Johnson: SIT
A potential sophomore breakout candidate, Theo Johnson is a name to watch and nothing more.
Washington Commanders
Quarterback
Jayden Daniels: START, QB1
You don’t need me to tell you to start Jayden Daniels. Did you know he has a game-day superstition where he eats an omelet and two waffles for breakfast before every game?
Running Back
Austin Ekeler: FLEX, RB3
Chris Rodriguez: SIT
Jacory “Bill” Croskey-Merritt: SIT
Jeremy McNichols: SIT
One of the messiest running back rooms in the entire NFL, starting any Commanders running back in Week 1 is asking for an ulcer. Offseason darling Jacory Croskey-Merritt went from undrafted to overdrafted, but we have no idea how he or any of the rest of the Washington backs will actually be used. Considering Deebo Samuel and Jayden Daniels will also have designed running plays, I’m not starting anybody outside of Austin Ekeler, and even he’s a low-end FLEX.
Wide Receiver
Terry McLaurin: START, WR2
Deebo Samuel: FLEX, WR4
Noah Brown: SIT
As the top target for one of the best quarterbacks in the league, Terry McLaurin should start in most, if not all, lineups. He’ll have a hard time repeating his 10 touchdown receptions from a season ago, but he did catch two the last time he faced the Giants. He’s a locked-in WR2. First-year Commander Deebo Samuel is looking to bounce back in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense, but he enters the season as a boom/bust FLEX.
Tight End
Zach Ertz, SIT
Ba da ba ba ba, McDouble. (For you first-timers, that’s my term for a player with a decent floor but little upside. You know what you’re getting, and it ain’t too exciting. Most of the time.)
