Cleveland Browns
Quarterback
Dillon Gabriel: SIT
You’re better off taking a zero than starting Dillon Gabriel.
Running Back
Quinshon Judkins: START, RB1
Jerome Ford: SIT
Dylan Sampson: SIT
You don’t need me to tell you to start Quinshon Judkins, but did you know he was only a 3-star recruit in high school? He was ranked as just the #46 running back in his class before exploding onto the scene as a freshman at Ole Miss.
Wide Receiver
Jerry Jeudy: SIT
Jamari Thrash: SIT
Isaiah Bond: SIT
Since Dillon Gabriel was named the starting quarterback, Cleveland’s wide receivers have 210 receiving yards. Total. As in all of them. In three games. All the wide receivers. Add up all their receiving yards for the last three games. It adds up to 210 yards.
Tight End
Harold Fannin Jr.: START, TE1
David Njoku: SIT
Remember those 210 total receiving yards for the Browns receivers I talked about one scroll up? Over that same period of time, Harold Fannin had 130 receiving yards. More than half of the WRs’ total, and a touchdown to boot. Fannin is averaging over six targets and five catches in Gabriel’s three starts. That’s enough to make him a TE1 most weeks, let alone a week with six teams on bye. David Njoku missed Week 7 with an injury, and his return was uncertain at the time of writing. Regardless of whether he suits up, with the emergence of Fannin and the poor passing numbers for Cleveland, he’s best left on the bench.
Defense/Special Teams
Cleveland Browns: START
Arguably the best defense in the league, Cleveland has given up just 16.7 points per game over their last three and ranks among the top 10 in sacks.
New England Patriots
Quarterback
Drake Maye: START, QB1
You don’t need me to tell you to start Drake Maye, but did you know he grew up a Carolina Panthers fan? He’s a Charlotte native, and his favorite player was Cam Newton.
Running Back
Rhamondre Stevenson: START, RB2
TreVeyon Henderson: SIT
Rhamondre Stevenson churned out 88 yards on 18 carries and 3 catches for 17 yards plus a touchdown against the Titans. Over the last two games, Stevenson has had an iron grip on the job, taking 77% of the snaps, 60% of the carries, and 100% of the snaps inside the 5-yard line. TreVeyon Henderson logged a pitiful 14% of snaps and barely touched the ball, finishing with just 2 carries for 5 yards. Rubbing some rock salt in the flesh wound, undrafted free agent Terrell Jennings had more carries than Henderson in Week 7. I’ve held out as long as I could, but folks, I’m finally ready to admit it’s Joever for TreVeyon Henderson (at least for this season). Henderson is a droppable stash in redraft. I wouldn’t force it, but I wouldn’t blame you, either. Rhamondre Stevenson is a solid RB2 with a nice floor because the volume and the goal-line dominance are locked in.
Wide Receiver
Stefon Diggs: START, Borderline WR2
Kayshon Boutte: START, BorderlineWR3
DeMario Douglas: SIT
Snap share? Stefon Diggs doesn’t need no stinkin’ snap share. Despite Diggs seeing over 60% of snaps just once since donning a New England uniform, he’s the only Patriots pass catcher to account for over 20% of the team’s targets. Hunter Henry is the closest at 16.7%. Diggs is yet to catch a touchdown, but has 13 or more fantasy points in three of his first four games. Kayshon Boutte has been on a tear over his last two games, catching three touchdowns on just seven catches. He’s a volatile WR3 with upside, but a non-existent floor. Cleveland is middle of the road for fantasy points given up to opposing wide receivers, but considering they’ve only allowed five passing touchdowns since Week 4, either’s upside is capped.
Tight End
Hunter Henry: START, TE1
Second on the team in targets and ranking inside the top 10 in yards per target, yards per reception, and yards per route run among tight ends with at least 100 routes run (per FantasyPoint Data), Hunter Henry is an every-week borderline TE1 regardless of matchup.
Defense/Special Teams
New England Patriots: START
The Patriots’ defense has held its opponents to 20 or fewer points in five of seven games, and their 22 sacks rank fifth most in the NFL. Oh, and they get to face Dillon Gabriel.
