San Francisco 49ers

Quarterback

Nick Mullens (Sit), C.J. Beathard (Sit)

Whether it is Nick Mullens or C.J. Beathard leading the 49ers at the weekend, it matters little. Kyle Shanahan has failed to develop either of these signal-callers and will likely lean on the one-dimensional rush attack once again, making neither of these a viable starting fantasy option. Mullens may get the nod despite throwing 6 picks in 6 starts this season. Any production here will likely come from this obsessive YAC attack.

Running Backs

Raheem Mostert (Start, RB2), Jerrick McKinnon (Sit / Start if Mostert is out), Tevin Coleman (Sit)

If Raheem Mostert is activated off IR and does indeed suit up for the 49ers after missing the past 4 games then he is a sure-fire lock to lead this backfield against a Rams defensive line that has up given up the 8th fewest fantasy points to backs this season. Despite the matchup, Mostert is the 49ers’ only above-average back and should put up RB2 numbers as a floor thanks to the screens, checks, and dump-offs that Shanahan loves so much. If Mostert misses out then Jerrick McKinnon should get the nod. He does not have the ceiling of Mostert but he is still a safe bet in a run-heavy offense. Tevin Coleman has rushed 21 times for a mere 50 yards so far this season. The pricey free-agent is completely off the fantasy radar in San Francisco.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

Brandon Aiyuk (Start, FLEX), Deebo Samuel (Sit, FLEX), Richie James (Sit), Kendrick Bourne (Sit), Jordan Reed (Sit, TE2)

This could be one of the worst receiving rooms in football going into Week 12. It doesn’t help the cause, therefore, that the Rams have given up the fewest fantasy points to wideouts this season. Deebo Samuel is unlikely to be effective after missing another 3 games with a niggling hamstring injury and Kendrick Bourne is still on the COVID-IR. The lone bright spot has been 1st round pick, Brandon Aiyuk, who has seen double-digit targets in the past 2 games, registering scores in each. Aiyuk is no go-to outside receiver who is going to go up and win you games but he is another speedster who could knock off a huge play at any time.

Jordan Reed is mainly lining up as a receiver for the 49ers and amassed a healthy 5 receptions for 62 yards last time out against the Packers. Reed will likely seem some red-zone looks, how many however is anyone’s guess. He is a low-floor streaming option in Week 12.

Los Angeles Rams

Quarterback

Jared Goff (Start, QB1)

Jared Goff now has 3 consecutive 300+ yards games – the former No.1 overall pick has totaled 1,033 yards and 4 TDs in that stretch. The Rams will look to keep pace with the Seahawks in the NFC West by winning another divisional matchup against the ghastly 49ers defense. Coming out of the bye, Robert Saleh‘s defense has given up 9 passing touchdowns over their last 3 games. Sean McVay will once again look to the passing game in an attempt to take advantage of the 49ers’ depleted secondary and Saleh’s clear limitations when asked to coach up replacements. Goff is on target to put up QB1 numbers again this week after finishing as the fantasy QB3 in Week 11.

Running Backs

Darrell Henderson (Sit, FLEX), Cam Akers (Sit, FLEX), Malcolm Brown (Sit)

Cam Akers threw a big spanner into this running back room after seeing the goal line touch for the score, which topped off a decent performance against a tough Bucs defensive front. This now means that this backfield regresses once again into an unpredictable committee. Darrell Henderson led the backs in total touches (10) on a night when Goff looked to his receivers to move the sticks, particularly on 3rd downs. Malcolm Brown led the backs in yardage with just 20-yards. It was that kind of a night for this uninspiring running back by committee.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

Robert Woods (Start, WR1), Cooper Kupp (Start, WR2), Josh Reynolds (Start, FLEX), Gerald Everett (Sit), Tyler Higbee (Sit)

The Rams receivers shared 376 passing yards in the win over the Bucs – 275 of those went to Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp, who go into Week 12 facing a tasty matchup against the 49ers riding a wave of opportunity! Woods has a higher upside because of his work in the red zone, where he has outscored Kupp in TDs by 7 to 2 so far this year. Both demand to be started in all formats this coming weekend. Josh Reynolds failed to build on a solid couple of FLEX-relevant weeks against the Bucs but should have some upside once again as a deep threat against the 49ers.

Gerald Everett and Tyler Higbee are in a tight end timeshare nightmare. Neither can be relied on as a solid starting option at the position.
