New York Jets
Quarterback
Mike White (Start, QB2)
Mike White is getting the rub in New York, especially after his performance against the Chicago Bears. White threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78% of his passes. The most impressive part of his performance is that he brought Elijah Moore‘s season back to life. This week White will continue his comeback tour against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are coming off a Thanksgiving game, where Mac Jones put together a 382-yard and two-touchdown performance in Minnesota. On average, the Vikings have given up 19.1 fantasy points to the Quarterback position. In the last five games, they allowed an average of 24.07, with the lowest performance coming in Week 9 to Taylor Heinicke.
Running Backs
Michael Carter (Start, RB2), Zonovan Knight (Start, RB2), Ty Johnson (Sit)
Michael Carter is a maybe this week with an ankle injury. If he plays this week, he’ll have an opportunity against a Vikings squad that allows 18.4 fantasy points per game. Carter has one RB1 week this year and inherited the Jets team’s top role. Look for the Jets to want to establish the run early and often against the Vikes, and if Carter plays, he’ll have RB2 potential. Zonovan Knight took over the backfield in the absence of Carter, tallying 17 touches for 103 yards. If Carter is out, then I can easily see him having the same RB2 potential this week. Ty Johnson got most of his 78 yards on a massive 32-yard touchdown run last Sunday. Johnson is the worst kind of boom-or-bust player and should be sat this week.
Wide Receivers and Tight Ends
Garrett Wilson (Start, WR2), Elijah Moore (Start, Low-End Flex), Tyler Conklin (Start, TE1)
After last week, Garrett Wilson is a fantasy superstar, and it’s crazy what getting an adequate QB into the mix does for everyone. Wilson played a legitimately good cover corner in Jaylon Johnson and dominated him all day to the tune of five receptions, 95 yards, and two touchdowns. The Vikings have allowed 24.6 fantasy points to wide receivers this year, and last week, they allowed Nelson Agholor to have 18.5 points. This week I’m starting up Wilson as a WR2.
Elijah Moore got back into the swing of things this past weekend. Putting together two receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown. Moore only getting two targets makes me worry about his value outside of big plays, but White’s passes seem more accurate. His resurgence this week may lead to more than 34% of snaps next week. Moore is a low-end flex this week.
Tyler Conklin caught all three of his targets last week and looked better than he has most of 2022. Honestly, Conklin was a TE1 when Zach Wilson wasn’t his QB earlier this year, and I think he can get back there with White this week. This is his revenge game against the team that let him walk for Irv Smith.
Minnesota Vikings
Quarterback
Kirk Cousins (Start, QB1)
Kirk Cousins overcame his primetime woes last week against the New England Patriots. Cousins threw for 299 yards and three touchdowns. The Jets have been rough against the last five quarterbacks, allowing an average of 14.99 points per game. To be fair to Cousins, three of the said quarterbacks were Brett Rypien, Trevor Siemen, and Mac Jones. Cousins is not nearly as bad as the aforementioned QBs. In 2022, Cousins has thrown the most red zone pass attempts (76). He’s also put together six QB1 performances this year and has the weapons to make this week his seventh. Look out for Cousins to put up another top-12 performance in what could be a back-and-forth affair.
Running Backs
Dalvin Cook (Start, RB1)
Dalvin Cook has hit a rough patch in what has already been a rough season. Cook has been the RB33 for consecutive weeks and is looking to get back into the RB1 conversation. The Vikings used Cook last week as a receiver giving him five targets and keeping him in for 89% of the team’s snaps. While Cook has been on the downswing of fantasy relevance this year, the Vikings have proven he’s necessary to the offense and will have a role no matter what. That type of dedication to Cook makes him an RB1 for this week against the Jets, who have allowed 16.4 fantasy points and 475 receiving yards to RBs.
Wide Receivers and Tight Ends
Justin Jefferson (Start, WR1), Adam Thielen (Start, Low-End FLEX), KJ Osborn (Sit), TJ Hockenson (Start, TE1)
Justin Jefferson has been great this year, securing six WR1 weeks and four 30-point performances, and is currently the WR2 in fantasy. Jefferson is top 5 in targets (116), red zone targets (19), receptions (81), and receiving yards (1,232). He’s having an awesome year, regardless of his eighth-best TDs (6). He will have an interesting matchup this week against Sauce Gardner, but you can’t bench him.
Adam Thielen caught nine of ten passes for 61 yards and a touchdown against the Patriots. This was his first big week since Week 6 against the Dolphins. Thielen is a talented wide receiver who is always a part of the game plan, getting targeted seven times a game since Week 8. Thielen is a low-end flex this week, mostly because he’s been consistently underwhelming for the past five weeks.
KJ Osborn has spent most of his time outside the top 45, meaning he’s a very easy sit for me this week. TJ Hockenson has yet to have a week outside the top 12 of tight ends since joining the Vikings at the trade deadline. Hockenson has averaged 12.4 fantasy points per game with the Vikings and eight targets per game. Go ahead and start TJ Hockenson this week against the Jets, who have been stingy against the tight end position but will have other problems to deal with on this offense.
Thought on Pats DST this week over Minnesota? Could be 4-5 sacks and a couple TO’s no?
I’m sitting the Pats D against Buffalo. I would rather play Minn
got to start one if Fields can’t go – Marcus Mariota or Kenny Pickett
They are so close. I will go with Pickett. Pitts D is giving up the fewest points to quarterbacks while ATL is giving up the 10th most. Both Qbs have some rushing upside. Pickett has 265 passing attempts and Mariota has 276 yet he has played 11 games and Pickett had played 8 but really only 7, higher volume for Pickett and better matchup
You have Davante listed as a WR2 but describe him as a high-end WR1. Which one is it?
He should be a WR1. I updated the article
