Kansas City Chiefs
Quarterback
Patrick Mahomes: Streaming Option
The days of Patrick Mahomes being the elite fantasy producer are long in our rearview as the Chiefs have relied on their defense to carry their team this season. This is not a matchup that Mahomes should really have to even show up for at all. Expect low volume from him as they likely rely heavily on the run game.
Running Back
Kareem Hunt: Start, RB2
Kareem Hunt once again high-volume, low-efficiencied his way to solid production. It was his worst performance since being named the starter for the Chiefs but not one that has me overly concerned. I do expect Hunt to have his final moment in the sun this week as Isiah Pacheco is likely to make his return to the field in the next two weeks. I expect Hunt to see a 20+ opportunity performance against a Panthers team that is one of, if not the worst in the entire NFL. He is my RB15 on the Week. If Pacheco does in fact suit up in Week 12, which has been reported as a possibility over the past couple of weeks, it’ll be difficult to predict how the backfield work shakes out. Against one of the worst teams in the NFL, I would not be surprised to see Hunt maintain a larger share of the workload in Pacheco’s first game back. Pacheco would be more of a FLEX option this week until we can be sure he’ll see his usual amount of carries (or close to it).
Wide Receiver
DeAndre Hopkins: FLEX Option, WR3
Xavier Worthy: FLEX Option, WR4
Honestly, there is not much more to say than what has already been mentioned. The Chiefs don’t need to show up to this game to win. I expect a low-volume passing attack and that is something that will further limit DeAndre Hopkins and Xavier Worthy’s erratic performances this season. They are on the FLEX radar for teams missing players on their bye week but can otherwise be avoided.
Tight End
Travis Kelce: Start, TE1
Travis Kelce was the primary focus of the Buffalo Bills defense last week. It allowed backup tight end Noah Gray to score two touchdowns, but it limited Kelce to only two receptions and eight yards. I expect this to be a bounce-back game with the Chiefs getting Kelce involved early and probably in the end zone. He is the only non-Kareem Hunt player I have much interest in for Kansas City this week. Honorable mention for Gray as well as the Chiefs may lean on him in the latter parts of this game if they get out to an early lead and don’t need Kelce to spend much time on the field.
Carolina Panthers
Quarterback
Bryce Young: Sit
Not much to add here. Bryce Young is saving his NFL career but not his fantasy football viability as things stand now.
Running Back
Chuba Hubbard: Start, RB2
Jonathon Brooks: FLEX Option, RB3
The days of Chuba Hubbard dominating snaps for the Panthers backfield are likely at an end. The good news is that the Panthers did commit to Hubbard for the foreseeable future with a new contract which means he will remain involved even with rookie Jonathon Brooks making his NFL debut. I expect Hubbard to lead the way for the next few weeks but in Week 12 both Hubbard and Brooks face one of the best defenses in the NFL against opposing running backs. They have limited ceilings with them both getting playing time so expect low-end RB2 production and below for both players this week.
Wide Receiver
Sit All
The Chiefs defense is just too good. There are no Panthers wide receivers worth playing this week. Both Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker are in large part Dynasty assets only going forward.
Tight End
Ja’Tavion Sanders: Sit
Similar to the wide receivers you are not going to often get to play Ja’Tavion Sanders with any confidence for the remainder of the season. He is a phenomenal asset at tight end for dynasty purposes though and may provide a small buy window before we wrap the season for managers looking for answers at the position.
If Sam Darnold is not a must sit then why is he labeled “Sit”?
Why not label him “QB2”?
We base our rankings on single-QB leagues since they’re the most common, so any QB outside of our top 12 would technically be labeled a “Sit.” We try to provide some insight in terms of if they’re a viable streamer or start in SF leagues as well, but that’s our general process for that position!
