New York Jets
Quarterback
Geno Smith: SIT
Geno Smith has thrown for more than 250 yards and/or more than one touchdown in a game once this season. The Pats are a bottom-10 matchup. Divisional games can get #weird, but looking for production from Geno in this game feels a lot like trusting a blind squirrel to find a nut.
Running Back
Braelon Allen: START, RB2
Isaiah Davis: SIT
Breece Hall: SIT
Braelon Allen got into the end zone last week and eclipsed the century mark, but he’ll have a much tougher time against the Pats. New England is holding opposing running backs to 90.8 yards per game, sixth-fewest in the league. He’s a volume-based RB2 with Breece Hall once again expected to miss.
Wide Receiver
Garrett Wilson: START, WR1
Isaiah Williams: SIT
Tim Patrick: SIT
Garrett Wilson is another guy who is getting close to “joke over stats” territory. Wilson is averaging over 8 targets per game since Week 3 and is the current WR12. The Pats matchup isn’t awful for fantasy, but they allow the 10th-fewest passing yards per game. There’s no other receiver to even consider on the Jets, even if Adonai Mitchell returns.
Tight End
Kenyon Sadiq: SIT
Mason Taylor: SIT
Kenyon Sadiq is questionable to play against the Pats after suffering a concussion in Week 5, but even if active, both he and Mason Taylor are sits in a matchup against New England. The Patriots are holding opposing tight ends to less than 10 fantasy points per game.
Defense/Special Teams
New York Jets: SIT
The Jets defense is getting sacks and holding opponents under 300 total yards per game. But the lack of turnovers prevents them from being much of a fantasy option.
New England Patriots
Quarterback
Drake Maye: START, QB1
Drake Maye seems to have gotten his swagger back, and that’s good news considering he hasn’t gotten his best receiver back yet. Five total touchdowns in a career game is enough for me to consider Maye a QB1 even in a difficult divisional matchup against the Jets, who allow the seventh-fewest fantasy points to the position and a mere 175 passing yards per game.
Running Back
Rhamondre Stevenson: START, RB2
Corey Kiner: SIT
TreVeyon Henderson: OUT
TreVeyon Henderson is out multiple weeks with an injury picked up in Week 5, boosting the floor for Rhamondre Stevenson and making Corey Kiner an interesting pick-up-and-stash candidate. Kiner saw six carries after Henderson left last week’s game, averaging 8.7 yards per carry, but lost a fumble. Stevenson is a borderline RB1, but more along the lines of a high-end RB2 in a matchup against the Jets. New York has allowed six touchdowns to the position and the 10 most points per game.
Wide Receiver
Romeo Doubs: FLEX, WR3
DeMario Douglas: FLEX, WR4
Efton Chism III: FLEX, WR5
Kyle Williams: SIT
AJ Brown: IR
Efton Chism III led the team in targets, Demario Douglas led the team in touchdown catches, Kyle Williams led the team in receiving yards, and Romeo Doubs led the team in helmet size. The Pats designated AJ Brown to return from the IR on Wednesday, but that just means his 21-day practice window has been opened. Until his return, any Pats receiver is just a dart throw. If you have no choice but to take that dart throw, I’m still rolling with Doubs. His average depth of target is eighth-highest in the league at 16.6.
Tight End
Hunter Henry: SIT
The Jets are a bottom-five matchup for tight ends and have yet to give up a touchdown to the position.
Defense/Special Teams
New England Patriots: START
Turnovers are on the menu in Foxboro with the Jets coming to town. New York gives the ball the way more than two times a game, 2nd most in the league.
