New Orleans Saints
Quarterback
Tyler Shough: START (in Superflex), Borderline QB1
Yeah, you read that right. Tyler Shough scored negative fantasy points this past week. To be fair, he’s dealing with a hand injury and faced the vaunted Vikings defense. But it sure wasn’t pretty. The Giants have been ball hawks this season, picking off the ball six times. But they’ve also allowed the 11th most points to the position, and are a great get right spot for Shough and co.
Running Back
Alvin Kamara: FLEX, RB3
Kendre Miller: FLEX, RB3
CJ Donaldson: SIT
Alvin Kamara and Kendre Miller are just FLEX plays in the absence of Travis Etienne. It looks like Kamara’s Week 4 resurgence was merely a mirage, and he was outcarried by Miller 10-3 as he continues to play through a back injury. The Giants allow nearly five yards per carry, but are a middle-of-the-road matchup.
Wide Receiver
Chris Olave: START, WR1
Devaughn Vele: START, WR3
Bryce Lance: SIT
Chris Olave is a start in pretty much any matchup considering he’s averaging nearly 11 targets per game and has a league-high 14 deep targets on the season. But the Giants have shut down the deep ball, only allowing three completions of 20+ yards this season, the third-fewest. Devaughn Vele can be started comfortably as well, but beware the ceiling isn’t quite as high as it usually is with the Giants defending the deep pass well.
Tight End
Juwan Johnson: START, TE1
Currently TE7 on the season, Juwan Johnson faces a Giants defense allowing the sixth most catches to the position and is a locked-in TE1. Johnson’s exceptional start to the season is partly due to his usage around the end zone, where he’s tied for third at the position with four end zone targets.
Defense/Special Teams
New Orleans Saints: SIT
The Saints allow over 30 points per game to opposing offenses.
New York Giants
Quarterback
Jameis Winston: START (in Superflex), Borderline QB1
Jameis Winston, you sonofagun, you did it again. His stat line looked great on paper, but he was off target all day with Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely bailing him out. The good news? The Saints have just 1 INT all year, so the misses shouldn’t turn into turnovers. The volume plays, but his floor is shaky. You just have to pray he doesn’t go full Jameis.
Running Back
Cam Skattebo: START, RB1
Najee Harris: SIT
Tyrone Tracy Jr.: SIT
Cam Skattebo played a better real football game than fantasy. Like a good little bulldog pup, Skatt ran into contact all day, then nearly gave Washington the game with that OT fumble. He’s trending down over his last three, but this is a get-right spot. New Orleans allows 148.8 rushing yards a game, the most touchdowns, and unsurprisingly the most fantasy points to running backs. If he’s ever going to bounce back, it’s here.
Wide Receiver
Malik Nabers: START, WR1
Malachi Fields: SIT
Darnell Mooney: SIT
We can officially stop asking the Malik Nabers ceiling questions with Winston under center. He’s averaged WR8 over his last three games and is sixth among WRs in first-read targets with eight a game. The Saints are stingy against receivers but have given up six wide receiver touchdowns. The volume makes him matchup-proof; the hops make him elite.
Tight End
Isaiah Likely: START, TE1
Look away, Ravens fans. Isaiah Likely had a career-high 11 catches, 94 yards, and two touchdowns for 32.4 points in Week 6, the TE1 on the week. Likely’s Winston’s third-down and broken-play guy, rocking a 29.4% target share (2nd among TEs). The Saints are a top-10 matchup, and it’s likely this ride will continue for the foreseeable future.
Defense/Special Teams
New York Giants: START
The Giants are holding opposing pass games under 200 yards per game, and the Saints are tied for the third-most giveaways per game with two.
