Washington Commanders
Quarterback
Jayden Daniels: START, QB1
He was sacked five times and threw zero tuddys, but Jayden Daniels‘ legs carried the offense and your fantasy team. Daniels totaled 103 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, but the 49ers are a tough draw. They’re allowing the fifth-fewest points to the position and the third-fewest points per game to opponents. As a 7.5-point road dog, he’ll have to do it all, and his rushing floor is why he’s an easy QB1.
Running Back
Jacory Croskey-Merritt: START, RB2
Rachaad White: SIT
Austin Ekeler: SIT
Yeah, Jacory Croskey-Merritt had 11 carries, 82 yards, and a touchdown. BUT. The 33-yard touchdown was all play design and a wide-open hole, not Bill. He’s averaging 9 fantasy points per game, and despite the fantastic matchup, he’s nothing more than a risky RB2. Sure, San Fran is a top-10 matchup thanks to allowing the most running back catches in the league. But the real catch? JCM has a 4.6% target share, so that receiving door doesn’t help him much.
Wide Receiver
Terry McLaurin: START, WR2
Antonio Williams: FLEX, WR4
Stefon Diggs: Likely OUT
Treylon Burks: OUT
Stefon Diggs’ status for Monday is unclear, so Terry McLaurin and Antonio Williams are the likely two to carry Washington’s WR corps again. McLaurin was efficient in Week 5 with four catches for 62 yards and a 2-point conversion. But Williams was quiet with a mere three catches for 31 yards. Treylon Burks saw a season-high five targets, but couldn’t turn them into five fantasy points. San Francisco allows the eighth-fewest points to the position and has kept the deep ball under control. As more than a touchdown underdog, Washington should throw enough to keep McLaurin a WR2. Williams is a deep-league FLEX at best.
Tight End
Chig Okonkwo: STREAMER
Chig Okonkwo finally looked healthy and was the engine for the offense on the opening drive. He’s tied for second among tight ends in deep targets, but he’s a stash and hold for now. This is the wrong week to start him, as the Niners haven’t allowed a touchdown to the position all year and are holding tight ends to eight fantasy points per game.
Defense/Special Teams
Washington Commanders: SIT
The ‘Manders are allowing nearly 30 points per game.
San Francisco 49ers
Quarterback
Brock Purdy: START, QB1
Brock Purdy took his first three sacks of the season, but still has the lowest sack rate in the league at 1.9%. He’s in a smash spot against Washington, who allows the second-most points to the position and is tied for the second-most touchdowns given up to quarterbacks at 15. Currently the QB2 on the year, Purdy is locked and loaded as an every-week start.
Running Back
Christian McCaffrey: START, RB1
Kaelon Black: SIT
Jordan James: SIT
If Christian McCaffrey is active, he’s in your lineup. End of discussion. Baseball has Shohei Ohtani. Football has McCaffrey. Why settle for being elite at one thing when you can just do it all? There really isn’t a wrong way to use him.
Wide Receiver
Mike Evans: START, WR1
Brandin Cooks: SIT
Jacob Cowing: SIT
Mike Evans played through broken ribs and was rewarded with his first 100-yard game as a Niner. He has 43.4% of San Francisco’s air yards (8th among WRs), and with Deebo out, the volume should continue to climb. Washington is a top-five matchup and yet another game with an implied total over 50. Evans is hurting and getting a little long in the tooth (I feel you, Mike), but he’s a WR1 for Week 6.
Tight End
George Kittle: START, TE1
George Kittle had his first game under 10 fantasy points since Week 1 last week against Seattle, but still saw six or more targets for the third straight game. He’s in a great spot against Washington, a top-three matchup that’s allowed seven scores to the position.
Defense/Special Teams
San Francisco 49ers: STREAMER
San Fran allows the third-fewest points and sixth-fewest yards per game.
