Dallas Cowboys

Quarterback

Dak Prescott (Start, QB1)

Dak Prescott has been back for two games now since his thumb surgery and had another chance to gain some rest last week with Dallas on their BYE. This week, he’s set to face a down-bad Packers team. Losers of five in a row, the Green Bay defense has only given up the fourth fewest fantasy points to QBs this season, but that should not stop Dak from having his way. He has four touchdowns in two games – three passing and one on the ground – since his return in Week 7, and is primed for another QB1 finish this week. The Packers just allowed Jared Goff to pass for two touchdowns last week.

Running Backs

Ezekiel Elliott (Start, RB2), Tony Pollard (Start, RB2)

In expected fashion, Tony Pollard stepped it up in Week 8 with Ezekiel Elliott sidelined with a knee injury. Pollard turned in 14 carries into 131 yards on the ground, and three touchdowns — along with a reception to his box score for 16 yards. What’s most frustrating is, despite the huge performance, Jerry Jones openly went on to say after the game that Zeke is their lead back when he is ready to return. Pollard has done nothing but produced when given meaningful touches – having had double-digit carries in each of the last three games – and should remain a factor in this offense. Per FantasyData, on 81 attempts, Pollard has 506 rushing yards, whereas Elliott has 443 on 109 carries. If Zeke is a go this week (you’ll need to monitor his practice status all week), Pollard will no doubt see his involvement shrink from Week 8 but remains startable.

Wide Receivers/Tight End

CeeDee Lamb (Start, WR1), Michael Gallup (Start if you must, FLEX), Dalton Schultz (Start, TE2)

CeeDee Lamb has yet to amass 100 receiving yards in any game this season but is still posting consistent numbers as the WR1 for the Cowboys. In his last three games, he has at least 65 receiving yards and four catches in each contest. He continues to dominate the target share, averaging 9.1 per game this season, and will remain a WR1 off volume alone against a Packers defense that is allowing the seventh-fewest fantasy points to WRs this season. Michael Gallup missed the first three weeks of the season and has only one touchdown and 12 receptions to his name this season since his Week 4 debut. Consider him a FLEX-if-you-must option with the likes of Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd, Garrett Wilson, and Jakobi Meyers on BYE this week. Tight end Dalton Schultz has gotten involved since returning to action himself in Week 7, and with the extra week of rest, his lingering knee issue could be behind him. Consider Schultz a TE2 this week, as Green Bay’s defense is strong against the tight end position this season. They’re allowing the third fewest fantasy points to the position.

Green Bay Packers

Quarterback

Aaron Rodgers (Start if you must, QB2)

Aaron Rodgers had a season-high 43 attempts in the Week 9 loss to Detroit, completing 23 passes for 291 yards, one passing touchdown, and three ugly interceptions; two of which came in the red zone. Through nine games, AR12 has 2091 passing yards and holds a 14:7 passing touchdown to interception ratio, but the Packers are 3-6 on the season. Rodgers has somehow stayed fantasy relevant to an extent, given the injuries around him, but he’s set to face a Dallas defense that is seventh-best against quarterbacks this year. If you need to start Rodgers, be prepared for a potential letdown, and at the best, a QB2 return.

Running Backs

Aaron Jones (Start, RB2), AJ Dillon (Start if you must, FLEX)

Aaron Jones suffered an ankle injury in the loss to the Lions last week, but X-rays came back negative on Monday and is expected to suit up against Dallas. You’ll certainly need to monitor his practice participation through the rest of the week, and if Jones is active, he’ll be a pivotal player in an attempt to combat/keep up with the Cowboys offense. Whether Jones can or can’t go, AJ Dillon simply can’t be relied upon this season. Largely in part to the Green Bay offense being a mess, Dillon has not been the viewed upon RB2 that managers envisioned when they drafted him this summer. Both Dillon and Jones only have one rushing touchdown each this season, and Dillon only has one double-digit point fantasy output this season to his name, and it came in Week 1. It also doesn’t help either of their cases when you consider the fact that the Dallas defense has given up the fourth-fewest fantasy points to RBs on the year.

Wide Receivers/Tight End

Allen Lazard (Start, WR3), Christian Watson (Sit), Robert Tonyan (Start, TE2)

The Packers were not buyers at the trade deadline, and thus this is what you’re gonna get out of the Green Bay pass-catchers the rest of the season. Allen Lazard returned to action from his shoulder injury in the Week 9 loss to Detroit and was actually productive. He only had four receptions, but he received a robust 10 targets and went for 87 yards and a touchdown. It was a season-high in targets, and that uptick should remain with Romeo Doubs out with a high ankle sprain. Christian Watson too is a bit banged up (chest), yet he is not in jeopardy to miss this week against Dallas per head coach Matt LaFleur on Wednesday. Assuming Watson does suit up, he still can’t be trusted. Tight end Robert Tonyan has been a middling option in such a starved offense this season, but with injuries all over the WR room, Tonyan is a viable streaming option against the Cowboys. He has seen at least four targets in each game since Week 5 but has only one touchdown on the season, which came in Week 4.
