Miami Dolphins

Quarterback

Teddy Bridgewater (Start, QB2)

Another year, another instance where Teddy Bridgewater finds himself in a starting role. Tua Tagovailoa was ruled out after suffering a NSFW concussion in Week 4 against the Bengals. It’s unclear when Tua will be back under center, but at least for this week versus the Jets, it’s Teddy Two Gloves time. This spot is not unfamiliar to Bridgewater; let’s remind ourselves of his recent years:

If you also recall, Bridgewater shut out the Jets last season 26-0, completing 19 of 25 attempts for 235 yards. He looked decent in relief duty against Cincinnati, completing 14 of 23 attempts for 193 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. That said, with a full week of first-team practice, he is more than capable of being a productive game-manager for this Dolphins team and could find himself on the streaming radar if you are in a bind at the QB position.

Running Backs

Chase Edmonds (Start, FLEX), Raheem Mostert (Start, FLEX)

Sound the alarms in the Miami. Could it be that Raheem Mostert is challenging Chase Edmonds for RB1 duties? Against the Bengals, Mostert out-snapped Edmonds 46 to 18. Edmonds’ fantasy day was saved with a reception touchdown, considering he only ran the ball five times for six yards. Mostert turned his 15 carries into 69 yards. It appears that Mostert is trending towards a backfield takeover, but with Edmonds still in the picture, consider both viable FLEX options this week against a Jets defense that is middle of the pack against RBs on the season, allowing the 15th most fantasy points to the position.

Wide Receivers/Tight End

Tyreek Hill (Start, WR1), Jaylen Waddle (Start, WR2), Mike Gesicki (Sit)

As has been the case all season so far, it’s the Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle show for the Dolphins pass-catchers. Hill really didn’t miss much of a beat when Tagovailoa exited, as he finished with 10 receptions for 160 yards on 14 targets. He’s seen at least 12 targets in three of his first four games with Miami and is bound for another big game against a Jets defense that has allowed the 15th most fantasy points to WRs this season. The same can be thought of Waddle, who looks to bounce back from a down Week 4, where he only caught two of five targets for 39 yards. He did own an 85.9 snap percentage against the Bengals, but in a weird sequence of events, Trent Sherfield saw a higher target share with 16.7 to Waddle’s 13.9. Despite that, Waddle is poised for a strong WR2 finish this week, and Sherfield can be left on the wire.

Tight end Mike Gesicki is a non-factor in this offense, with only 10 targets total through the first four games. Even against New York, he won’t find himself on the streaming radar.

New York Jets

Quarterback

Zach Wilson (Sit)

Zach Wilson made his season debut and led a come-from-behind win in the fourth quarter last week against the Steelers. His day started off with a receiving touchdown on a trick play, and then he hit some periods of struggle for essentially three quarters. There were two interceptions thrown, one of which was inexcusable, but the highlight was his fourth-quarter drive that won the Jets the game. Overall in the final frame, he completed 10 of 12 attempts for 128 yards and a touchdown. The Jets will look to build off this win against the Bridgewater-led Dolphins, but it’s hard to feel confident in streaming Wilson in single-QB leagues.

Running Backs

Breece Hall (Start, FLEX), Michael Carter (Sit)

Similar to Miami, is the New York backfield shifting gears? Breece Hall all but took the reigns as the RB1 from Michael Carter, as he turned 17 carries into 66 yards and the game-winning touchdown against Pittsburgh in Week 4. Carter only posted 15 yards on nine carries. Per FantasyData, Hall owned a 58.6 rush share in comparison to Carter’s 31.0, and an 18.2 target share to Carter’s 9.1. If Hall continues to trend in this involvement, he’ll push Carter out from weekly fantasy relevancy. However, time will tell if Hall can consistently become a facet in the passing game. It’s worth mentioning that Hall (as of Wednesday) is dealing with “nicks and bruises” per HC Robert Saleh, but there isn’t any concern with him missing the game.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

Corey Davis (Start, FLEX), Garrett Wilson (Sit), Elijah Moore (Sit), Tyler Conklin (Start, TE2), C.J. Uzomah (Sit)

Production out of the Jets receiver room was certainly a topic of discussion heading into Week 4 with the return of Zach Wilson. In recent weeks, Garrett Wilson was the guy (albeit with Joe Flacco), Elijah Moore wasn’t being utilized, and Corey Davis was producing, but on a low target share that didn’t warrant a place in your lineup. Well, with Wilson now under center, Davis appears to have earned some FLEX appeal. Against the Steelers, he caught five of seven targets – which led all WRs for NY on the day – for 74 yards and a touchdown. He was a crucial part of the Jets rally and does have the rapport from last season already with ZW. Garrett Wilson had six targets of his own but only two receptions for 41 yards. It’ll be interesting to see what comes of his fantasy outputs going forward, but for this week, I’m inclined to anoint him as a sit. The same goes for Moore, who has been an utter fantasy disappointment through the first four games. In fairness to him, he was getting open at will when Flacco was starting; Flacco just couldn’t get him the ball. Better days should be had for Moore, but you can’t trust starting him until he shows it.

Tyler Conklin caught three of five targets for 52 yards, and remains on the TE2 radar against a Dolphins team that has given up the seventh most fantasy points to tight ends this season, including a touchdown to Hayden Hurst last week (albeit a two-yard score).
