New England Patriots
Quarterback
Jacoby Brissett: Sit
Jacoby Brissett isn’t a starting quarterback in a 12-person fantasy football league. There is no need to expand on this one.
Running Back
Rhamondre Stevenson: Start, RB2
Antonio Gibson: Sit
Rhamondre Stevenson is the only reliable option for the Patriots’ offense week in and week out. He has rushed for over 200 yards and two touchdowns so far this season while averaging 75% of the offensive snaps. Antonio Gibson was solid in Week 2 and will get some opportunities here and there, but there is very little to be worried about as long as Stevenson is healthy. In Week 3, Stevenson gets to play the Jets, who have let up over 100 yards on the ground in each of their first two matchups. He is a high-end RB2 with upside in this one.
Wide Receiver
Sit Them All
The Patriots’ wide receivers are going to continue to be off the fantasy radar as long as Jacoby Brissett is the one under center. The offense leans heavily on Rhamondre Stevenson and, more recently, Hunter Henry to move the ball downfield. You can assume this group will be off of the radar in most leagues until Drake Maye steps in.
Tight End
Hunter Henry: Sit, TE2
There is a caveat with the Hunter Henry sit recommendation. If you lost David Njoku or Evan Engram, you most likely have to start Henry. He just barely misses my top-12 players this week, and if you are in a bind, there are much worse options. Henry had one of the best performances of his career in Week 2, amassing double-digit targets and surpassing the century mark in receiving yards. If he had a softer matchup, he would be flirting with TE1 numbers, but the Jets have been a stout unit against tight ends, only allowing 69 yards so far to the position.
New York Jets
Quarterback
Aaron Rodgers: Sit, QB2
Rodgers has been a shadow of his former self in the early goings of the 2024 season. His only two options are Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall. In single QB leagues, you can look elsewhere for your Quarterback, and in 2QB leagues, you will need to hope for a big play or busted coverage to see a return from Rodgers in Week 3.
Running Back
Breece Hall: Start, RB1
Braelon Allen: Sit
Breece Hall lost two touchdowns to his backfield mate Braelon Allen, but that is not something you should expect much of as the season moves along. Breece still produced over 20 fantasy points thanks to his involvement on passing downs. Hall has 12 receptions on the season while averaging 15 carries across the first two weeks. There are very few questions in terms of Hall’s ability as a workhorse. Breece Hall is a bonafide superstar and a top-3 option this week. Meanwhile, Braelon Allen is a handcuff and an elite one at that. If he can find a way to carve out 10-12 touches per week, though, he could provide some FLEX utility for fantasy managers in the latter part of the season.
Wide Receiver
Garrett Wilson: Start, WR1
Garrett Wilson is the only Jets pass catcher you are trusting in lineups. Don’t waste time points chasing with Allen Lazard or Mike Williams. Wilson is the only reliable option, and while he faces an elite cover corner in Christian Gonzalez, he should be able to find space as an elite separator. He comes in as my WR9 in Week 3. Wilson has averaged 8.5 targets per game, and that is unlikely to change heading into Week 3. We have yet to see him find the end zone, which has depressed his value, but he has been on the field for nearly 100% of the Jet’s offensive snaps. If someone is selling, you should be buying. He has an excellent second half of the fantasy season schedule, and the talent is evident.
Tight End
Tyler Conklin: Sit
Conklin can aid fantasy managers throughout the season as a viable bye week or injury fill-in at tight end, but that is not for Week 3. He should stay out of lineups and most likely be on waivers.
