Indianapolis Colts
Quarterback
Anthony Richardson: Streaming Option
The shine has dulled on Anthony Richardson. After a week 1 start that highlighted the seemingly unlimited ceiling, AR has done nothing, but show the equally bottomless floor he has. A combination of inaccurate throws, high turnover rates, and an injury proneness not suitable for someone who plays the style of football he does Richardson has gone from fantasy darling to a boom/bust streaming option.
Running Back
Johnathan Taylor: Start, RB1
Tyler Goodson: Sit
Trey Sermon: Sit
Johnathan Taylor is logging full practice sessions and seems to be a go for Sunday. He should slide immediately back into his RB1 role. Going up against a formidable Texans run defense shouldn’t dissuade anyone. After Richardson’s struggles so far this season, the Colts should be looking to feature Taylor as the engine of this offense. If Taylor takes a step back and isn’t available to play come Sunday, Tyler Goodson becomes a streaming option. Trey Sermon has shown no reason to be on any fantasy rosters this season.
Wide Receiver
Michael Pittman Jr.: FLEX Option, WR3
Josh Downs: FLEX Option, WR4
Alec Pierce: Sit
Oddly these receivers lose value when Richardson is healthy and playing. Like Richardson, they all have boom/bust potential depending on whether or not their QB can hit the broad side of a barn. Michael Pittman Jr. provides the most consistent value. If you are looking for a floor, Pittman Jr. would be the Colts receiver of choice. If you need a bit more ceiling I would lean towards Josh Downs. Alec Pierce only becomes relevant if one of the Richardson bombs downfield connects with him. Look elsewhere if you can.
Tight End
Sit All
The Colts just don’t have any fantasy-relevant TEs on the roster. Mo Alie-Cox gets a red zone target every few games and that’s the extent of this team’s TE usage.
Houston Texans
Quarterback
C.J. Stroud: Start, QB1
C.J. Stroud‘s floor bottomed out last week, but when he isn’t playing the NFC North he produces at a QB1 level. He’s already torched the Colts to kick off the season. Don’t overthink this one, just plug him in and look forward to your 18+ points.
Running Back
Joe Mixon: Start, RB1
Dameon Pierce: Sit
The Colts run defense is atrocious and Joe Mixon has already produced 25+ points in every game he’s finished this season. This is a no-brainer, Mixon is a dynamic running back that changes the Texans offense just by being healthy, plus he had his best run game of the season against this very same Colts team to open the season. Dameon Pierce and any other running backs on this roster should be shelved and/or dropped if they haven’t been already. With Mixon in the fold, they become irrelevant.
Wide Receiver
Stefon Diggs: Start WR1
Tank Dell: FLEX Option, WR3
Without Nico Collins, there are targets to be had. Stefon Diggs has already asserted himself as a reliable WR1, even with Collins in the fold. Tank Dell has been disappointing bordering on invisible, but this week against the Colts feels like as good a week as any to get him back in the groove of things. Stroud has publicly mentioned an intent around getting Dell more involved, as a fellow fantasy owner I understand the hesitancy in starting him, but I feel like this is the breakout week we have been waiting for. If he doesn’t pop this week he starts becoming a sell low/drop candidate moving forward.
Tight End
Dalton Schultz: Streaming Option
It has been a slog for most tight ends this season and Dalton Schultz is no exception. A bad week against the Packers can mostly be written off as the Texans passing offense as a whole was in flux. I lean a little toward starting him. Schultz is at the very top of my streaming range and should see a handful of targets a game.
