Denver Broncos

Quarterback

Bo Nix: START, Borderline QB1

Bo Nix struggled early on against the Eagles but came alive in the second half and led the Broncos to 15 points in five and a half minutes in Denver’s upset win. You’re starting him more often than not, but know every Sunday is a roll of the dice. He’s the fantasy football version of Lloyd Christmas: Just when you think he couldn’t possibly be any dumber, he makes a play… and TOTALLY REDEEMS himself. Against a Jets defense that’s allowed four passing touchdowns twice in five games and gives up the eighth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, Nix is a borderline QB1.

Running Back

J.K. Dobbins: START, RB2
RJ Harvey: FLEX, RB3

The R.J. Harvey breakout lasted all of one week. Following his 19.8 fantasy points in Week 4, he managed a disappointing six points against the Eagles. J.K. Dobbins, however, maintained his stranglehold on the backfield with a season-high 20 carries for 79 yards and a TD. Dobbins is dominating the workload with a 52.5% snap share and has taken 54.2% of the rushing attempts. He’s locked in as an RB2 with a rock-solid floor and some extra upside with a top 10 fantasy matchup against the Jets. Harvey is best viewed as a handcuff for now, but if you’re in a bind, he could find a way to return FLEX value in a soft matchup, even on limited opportunities.

Wide Receiver

Courtland Sutton: START, WR2
Marvin Mims Jr.: SIT
Troy Franklin: FLEX, WR4

Cortland Sutton proved his Week 2 one-point dud was a fluke, scoring over 17 points for the fourth time in five games in Week 5 against the Eagles. He dominated the target share with 10 looks, converting 8 receptions for 99 yards, once again making a couple of incredible catches. Marvin Mims and Troy Franklin had quiet days, combining for only 5 catches and 45 yards. With the inconsistent play of Nix, Sutton is the only reliable target here. Mims and Franklin have both had a spike week under their belt, but could be in line for another. With Sauce Gardner shadowing opposing WR1s, WR2s have either scored or led the team in receiving yards in four of five games.

Tight End

Evan Engram: STREAMER

In his second straight game with at least six targets, Evan Engram caught four of them for 33 yards and stretched across the goal line for the first Broncos touchdown.

Engram finally seems to be healthy and is a solid streamer against a Jets defense that has given up two touchdowns to the tight end position in back-to-back weeks.

Defense/Special Teams

Denver Broncos: START

The Broncos lead the league in sacks with 21, racking up five or more in three separate games.

New York Jets

Quarterback

Justin Fields: START, Borderline QB1

On paper… err… maybe on screen(?)… idk… but Justin Fields’ Week 5 statline looks phenomenal. Fields finished with over 300 total yards and two touchdowns for the second week in a row. But in reality, it was u-g-l-y and he ain’t got no alibi. Yeah, yeah, ugly. Dallas shut down Fields for most of the day, with both touchdowns coming in sweet, sweet garbage time. His rushing ability keeps Fields in the borderline QB1 conversation, but he’s a risky start against the Broncos. Quarterbacks are averaging just one touchdown against Denver, who allow the second fewest fantasy points to the position.

Running Back

Breece Hall: START, Borderline RB1
Isaiah Davis: SIT

He’s yet to have a blow-up game, but Breece Hall has been a rather stable start for fantasy. Hall scored at least 16 fantasy points in three of five games, in large part due to his usage in the passing game. He’s averaging over four catches and 34.3 receiving yards per game over his last three, elevating his floor. Denver is a decent matchup and has been susceptible to running backs through the air, allowing 50+ receiving yards to backs in three of five games.

Wide Receiver

Garrett Wilson: START, WR1
Josh Reynolds: SIT

Arian Smith: SIT

Remember that sweet, sweet garbage time I brought up back in Justin Fields’ blurb? The only guy benefiting more from it than Fields is Garrett Wilson. He’s got his work cut out for him against Denver and the looming Pat Surtain shadow coverage. But Wilson’s insane 30.1% target share and better than average chance for garbage time is enough for me to keep the current WR5 overall in the WR1 tier for Week 6. If you’re considering starting any other Jets wide receivers, I’m so sorry.

Tight End

Mason Taylor: STREAMER

Mason Taylor has seen his targets increase in each of the last three weeks, from six to seven to 12, leading to his best game as a pro with nine catches for 67 yards. Back-to-back weeks of 10+ points and developing as a second option for Fields, Taylor’s recent performance has elevated him to streamer TE status.

Defense/Special Teams

New York Jets: SIT

The Jets allow the second-most points per game at 31.4, one of four teams averaging over 30.
