Game Info

Kickoff: Sunday, October 12, 2025, 8:20 p.m. ET

Location: GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO

Network: NBC

Detroit Lions

Quarterback

Jared Goff: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex)

Although Jared Goff threw three touchdowns outside the friendly confines of Ford Field versus the Bengals, I don’t trust him in Kansas City. The Chiefs’ defense has allowed just two passing touchdowns since Week 2. Goff’s a fine start in Superflex, but consider looking elsewhere in 1QB leagues.

Running Back

Jahmyr Gibbs: START, RB1
David Montgomery: START, RB2

You don’t need me to tell you to start Jahmyr Gibbs, but did you know he was college teammates with Bryce Young at Alabama? His Heisman-winning quarterback was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft, with Gibbs being selected just 11 picks later. If the recent pattern holds for David Montgomery, he should be due for a one-point performance after scoring more than 20 last week. In all seriousness, Monty is locked in as an every-week starter, more along the lines of a low-end RB2 with upside in the right matchups. Game script likely won’t be on Montgomery’s side if you’re hoping for heavy involvement once again. You’re starting him, but temper expectations.

Wide Receiver

Amon-Ra St. Brown: START, WR1
Jameson Williams: START, WR3
Isaac TeSlaa: SIT

You don’t need me to tell you to start Amon-Ra St. Brown, but did you know he was college teammates with Michael Pittman Jr. at USC? They now both serve as the undisputed No. 1 wide receivers for their respective NFL teams. Jameson Williams has been one of the biggest busts this season and is a highly volatile WR3. You may want to bench him against the Chiefs, considering they’ve allowed just five completions of 20-plus yards this season, third-lowest in the NFL.

Tight End

Sam LaPorta: START, TE1

It may have been against the Bengals’ “defense”, but Sam LaPorta finally got in the end zone this season. It was just his second game over 10 points this season and his first over 20. Considering the state of the tight end position, LaPorta is a start this week, but he has a challenging matchup. Kansas City allows the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends.

Defense/Special Teams

Detroit Lions: STREAMER

The Lions are tied for the third-most takeaways (9) and rank second in sacks with 16.

Kansas City Chiefs

Quarterback

Patrick Mahomes: START, QB1

You don’t need me to tell you to start Patrick Mahomes, but did you know he was college teammates with Jakeem Grant at Texas Tech? Grant, known for his elite speed, went on to become an All-Pro return specialist in the NFL.

Running Back

Isiah Pacheco: FLEX, RB3
Kareem Hunt: SIT
Brashard Smith: SIT

Isiah Pacheco hasn’t cracked more than 10 carries in any game this year and topped out at 45 yards, but the Lions like to give up the big play, giving Pacheco a chance to surpass both those numbers in what should be a wide-open affair. Kareem Hunt is the running back version of a tight end that you’re just praying finds the end zone to return some semblance of value. He seems to be the preferred goal line back, but the Lions have given up just 4 touchdowns on the ground, meaning it’ll be an uphill battle to find paydirt.

Wide Receiver

Xavier Worthy: START, WR2
Hollywood Brown: FLEX, WR4
Tyquan Thornton: SIT
Juju Smith-Schuster: SIT

Xavier Worthy has one final week as the de facto WR1 for the Chiefs, and he should go out with a bang. The Lions allow the sixth-most fantasy points to wide receivers and the game is expected to be a shootout, with an implied total of 52.5 points at the time of writing. Worthy maintains WR2 status at least one more time, and Hollywood Brown is a solid FLEX option if you’re looking to get a piece of this game for cheap.

Tight End

Travis Kelce: START, TE1

“Redwood tree, it ain’t hard to seeHis love was the key that …”

Sorry, sorry, sorry. He may no longer be the elite tight end he once was, but Travis Kelce is averaging six targets per game and currently ranks as the TE6 on the season. It’s a middle-of-the-road matchup, but with an implied game total over 50, he’s an easy start.

Defense/Special Teams

Kansas City Chiefs: SIT

With an implied game total over 50 points, I’m not starting a defense with just six turnovers.
