Location: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ

Miami Dolphins

Quarterback

Malik Willis: SIT

Do I really have to tell you why you shouldn’t start Malik Willis? How about a 56.2% completion percentage, a 2:4 touchdown-to-interception ratio, and three lost fumbles as well. The only good thing Willis has going for him this week is that the Jets only have one interception. But New York has shut down opposing passing games, allowing a mere 185 passing yards per game and just over 20 points per game.

Running Back

Ollie Gordon II: START, RB2
Jaylen Wright: SIT
Kaytron Allen: SIT

Right now, Ollie Gordon is easily the best waiver wire pickup of the season. He ranks top five in both explosive run rate (17%) and yards after contact per attempt (2.83) and has averaged over 17 touches per game over his last three. The Jets are an ok matchup from a fantasy perspective, but give up a lot of yardage on the ground. Gordon is a rock-solid RB2 who could easily have an RB1 day if he’s able to get into the end zone.

Wide Receiver

Malik Washington: FLEX, WR4
Chris Bell: SIT
Caleb Douglas: SIT

I would much prefer not to start any Miami receivers, but if you have to start one, it’s Malik Washington. Caleb Douglas had yet to practice at the time of writing and is expected to return soon, but I’m hesitant to throw a rookie receiver battling back from an ankle injury in a poor passing offense right in my lineup. Washington is averaging over five catches a game in his last three and ranks third in the league with 11 deep targets. He’s the ultimate boom/bust play, but Washington should at least get a few chances to boom.

Tight End

Greg Dulcich: SIT

Greg Dulcich has zero touchdowns, 25 yards a game, and a fantastic mustache.

Defense/Special Teams

Miami Dolphins: SIT

Miami has the fewest sacks per game in the league, and the Jets have coughed it up just four times all year.

New York Jets

Quarterback

Geno Smith: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex)

Nobody is going to mistake Geno Smith for an elite fantasy quarterback, but he’s been more than serviceable when the matchup is right. That’s the case this week against Miami, who doesn’t get to the quarterback (.8 sacks per game and 26.1% pressure rate, 31st) and allowed the seventh-most passing touchdowns (11) despite being one of six teams who have played in just five games. Smith has the already studly Garrett Wilson and emerging rookie Omar Cooper to throw to and will eventually get AD Mitchell back as well, who Smith quickly built chemistry with early in the season. I prefer him in Superflex, but if your QB is on a buy or injured, you could do much worse than Geno against Miami.

Running Back

Braelon Allen: START, RB2
Isaiah Davis: SIT
Breece Hall: Likely OUT (Start if Active)

At the time of writing, Breece Hall had yet to return to practice and was trending towards missing Week 7. If he were to somehow wind up active, you’re starting him pretty much every week. Braelon Allen has stepped in as the starter with Hall out and should feast if he gets the backfield to himself again. Miami is a top-five fantasy matchup and allows explosive runs on nearly 10% of attempts.

Wide Receiver

Garrett Wilson: START, WR2
Omar Cooper Jr.: START, WR3
Adonai Mitchell: SIT

Garrett Wilson has almost a 30% target share and averages 15.8 fantasy points per game. The problem this week, however, is that the Dolphins may be hot, hot garbage, but they don’t give up many fantasy points to wide receivers. Part of it is all the points they allow to running backs. Most of it is that their offense is so awful, I had a Freudian slip while writing this and spelled it “awfense”. Teams don’t have to do much to beat Miami. They get a lead, play a little defense, and coast to victory. Don’t hear what I’m not saying. You’re staring Wilson and the emerging Omar Cooper Jr., whose 4.75 yards per route run ranks first among receivers, albeit in a very small sample size. But their ceilings are limited with a high probability the Jets don’t have to air it out much.

Tight End

Kenyon Sadiq: STREAMER

Kenyon Sadiq has been non-existent since his Week 3 breakout against the Lions, but I’m willing to trot him out as a streamer against Miami. The Dolphins are a top-five matchup for tight ends, allowing over seven catches per game to the position and 1.71 yards per route run (fourth-most).

Defense/Special Teams

New York Jets: START

Miami is tied for the fewest points per game in the league and gives up the eighth-most sacks.
