Chicago Bears
Quarterback
Caleb Williams: START, QB1
Caleb Williams threw for 300+ yards for the second consecutive game since returning from injury and matched his season high with two touchdown passes against the Patriots. He’ll have a hard time pulling it off for a third straight, however, with a matchup against Seattle next. The Seahawks are one of the most difficult matchups for quarterbacks, allowing the second-fewest fantasy points and a league-low 144.4 passing yards per game. Williams has earned the right to be started regardless of matchup, but a trip to Seattle should keep your expectations in check.
Running Back
D’Andre Swift: START, RB2
Roschon Johnson: SIT
Kyle Monangai: SIT
The matchup doesn’t matter if you’re scoring touchdowns, and that’s all D’Andre Swift has done as of late. Swift got into the end zone for the fourth time in three games and rushed for 78 yards on a season-high 22 carries. He ranks top five in both red zone and inside the five carries, and his 11.2% target share offers a nice floor despite his below-average rushing efficiency. It will be interesting to see if Swift keeps his hefty workload once Kyle Monangai is able to return from injury, but he had yet to practice at the time of writing.
Wide Receiver
Luther Burden III: START, WR2
Rome Odunze: START, WR3
Kalif Raymond: SIT
Luther Burden III appears to be blossoming into a fantasy stud, tallying 95+ yards for the second straight week, needing just four catches to total 130 receiving yards and a score. Burden ranks top 10 in yards after the catch per reception, yards per route run, and red zone targets, making it pretty safe to say he’s become the WR1 in this offense and could start pushing for weekly fantasy WR1 status soon. Rome Odunze scored 10+ points for just the second time this season against New England and is a shaky start against a Seahawks defense that’s allowed the fewest points to wide receivers this season. For the dozens of Kalif Raymond truthers who were still out there before Week 7’s goose egg, may you finally rest.
Tight End
Colston Loveland: START, TE1
We can officially say Colston Loveland is back, can’t we? Two straight games over 18 fantasy points and 11+ in three of his last four. Even in an awful matchup against a Seattle defense allowing just 34.4 receiving yards per game to the position, Loveland has proven he’s back to weekly starter status in any matchup.
Defense/Special Teams
Chicago Bears: STREAMER
Chicago is top 10 in sacks per game and faces a Seattle offense that has the third-most giveaways in the league.
Seattle Seahawks
Quarterback
Sam Darnold: START (in Superflex), Borderline QB1
He’s a surefire start in Superflex leagues, but Sam Darnold is a suspect pick for 1QB leagues due to his propensity to throw picks. Darnold has thrown at least one interception in five straight games, totaling eight in his last five. It’s a great matchup against Chicago, but Darnold hasn’t thrown multiple touchdowns since Week 4. I’d prefer to look elsewhere in 1QB.
Running Back
Emanuel Wilson: FLEX, RB3
Zach Charbonnet: SIT
George Holani: SIT
Emanuel Wilson’s days are numbered with the impending return of Zach Charbonnet, but until Charbs officially suits up, Wilson will remain a viable FLEX start. It’s uncertain if that will happen this week, but Jadarian Price is due to return soon as well. We could be headed for a potential three-headed timeshare that would render this backfield useless. If Charbs does play in Week 8, sit all Seattle backs. If the status of this backfield is up in the air come Sunday, I’d rather take a risk elsewhere given this is the Monday Night matchup.
Wide Receiver
Jaxon Smith-Njigba: START, WR1
Cooper Kupp: SIT
Rashid Shaheed: SIT
Starting Jaxon Smith-Njigba shouldn’t require much thought. He’s Nerds Gummy Clusters. Only been around for a few years, but everyone already knows he’s one of the best to ever do it.
Tight End
AJ Barner: SIT
AJ Barner has the lowest aDOT of any tight end, and his only score this season came on a carry. That should tell you all you need to know about the passing role.
Defense/Special Teams
Seattle Seahawks: STREAMER
Seattle allows the fewest yards per game in the league, and Chicago is tied for the sixth-most giveaways.
