Kickoff: Sunday, October 13th, 2024, 4:05 ET

Location: Empower Field at Mile High, Denver, Colorado

Network: CBS

Los Angeles Chargers

Quarterback

Justin Herbert: Sit, QB2

Herbert’s cooled off recently, and this week’s matchup isn’t doing him any favors. The Broncos are making life hard for opposing QBs, and Herbert’s recent performances don’t inspire enough confidence to roll him out there unless you have no better options.

Running Back

J.K. Dobbins: Start, RB2
Gus Edwards: Sit, RB4

The JK Dobbins revenge tour could be the spark your lineup needs, with the Broncos’ run defense showing some cracks, allowing 18 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. If he gets going early, he could give you more than just RB2 numbers, especially if the game script favors the ground game. Coming out of the Bye, it’s hard to know what to expect from Gus Edwards. He is more of a lottery ticket than a solid bet. The workload just isn’t there to trust him in your lineup, and the Broncos’ defense likely won’t be kind enough to let him sneak in a productive day.

Wide Receiver

Ladd McConkey: FLEX Option, WR4
Quentin Johnston: Sit, WR5

Ladd McConkey is the kind of wild-card FLEX who could give you a surprise burst of points if things break right. He’s not the most reliable option, but if you’re feeling a bit adventurous, he’s got some boom potential. The good news for McConkey is that he should rarely demand Patrick Surtain‘s attention, which could provide some space for him to work. Speaking of Surtain, there is very little chance Quentin Johnston will be able to find the end zone against him. His inconsistency makes him too risky to trust this week, especially against a Broncos team that’s been stingy with wide receivers. He’s better off left on your bench until he starts stringing together better performances.

Tight End

Hayden Hurst: Sit
Will Dissly: Sit

It is safe to assume that if there are pass catchers on the Chargers roster who can help you get a win this week, they are at wide receiver, not tight end.

Denver Broncos

Quarterback

Bo Nix: Sit

The matchup isn’t favorable for Nix, and there are plenty of streaming QBs who could give you more upside. Nix has started to string together some better performances, but he’s better off in your “just in case” category this week.

Running Back

Javonte Williams: FLEX Option, RB3

Javonte Williams has FLEX appeal, particularly if he stays involved as a pass-catcher. In the last two weeks, Williams has seen increased volume and shown us flashes of what made fantasy managers so excited about him as a rookie. He’s got enough talent to take advantage of any openings the Chargers give him, so don’t be afraid to roll him out there as a FLEX in a week with four teams on Bye.

Wide Receiver

Courtland Sutton: FLEX Option, WR4

Sutton’s been up and down all season, but the ups aren’t enough, and the downs are week-losing. If you are desperate for an option, you can play him as a second FLEX in deep leagues, but the Chargers’ secondary has been strong, allowing the fourth-fewest points to opposing receivers, and I would look elsewhere if I could.

Tight End

Sit

The Greg Dulcich experiment is over. It is time to move on. I am talking to you, dynasty managers.
