Pittsburgh Steelers
Quarterback
Justin Fields: Streaming Option
Justin Fields is the kind of fantasy QB who can drive you crazy one week and then drop 25+ points the next. His rushing upside makes him a decent start against a Raiders defense that isn’t exactly known for locking down mobile QBs. They are middle-of-the-pack in general against opposing quarterbacks, allowing the 13th-fewest points to the position.
Running Back
Najee Harris: Start, RB2
I am not expecting Jaylen Warren to play this week, but it is worth monitoring since he did practice as I am writing this. That leaves us with Najee Harris to once again lead the Pittsburgh backfield. Harris might not be the flashiest start, but his volume and the Raiders’ generosity to running backs (7th-most points allowed) make him a solid play. He’s got a good chance to rack up some yards and maybe punch one in if the Steelers get near the goal line and Fields doesn’t vulture him.
Wide Receiver
George Pickens: FLEX Option, WR3
George Pickens is a boom-or-bust option with big-play potential, making him a fun FLEX choice if you’re feeling bold. He’s not the safest start, averaging just over 10 fantasy PPG, but he’s got the talent to make a splash against a vulnerable secondary. The Raiders are a team in dire straits, as they still have not solved their quarterback problem, and it has led to their top offensive player wanting out. As long as Pickens’ snaps aren’t too limited in Mike Tomlin‘s latest “experiment,” Pickens has a solid chance to return value in Week 6.
Tight End
Pat Freiermuth: Start, TE1
Freiermuth is a reliable tight end who always has a shot at scoring. The Raiders have struggled to cover TEs, so he’s a good bet to get you 8-12 points with the upside for more if he finds the end zone.
Las Vegas Raiders
Quarterback
Aidan O’Connell: Sit
Aidan O’Connell is facing a tough Steelers defense that could make him look like a deer in headlights. There’s just too much risk here, so save him for your bench or, more likely, waivers.
Running Back
Alexander Mattison: Sit, RB4
Zamir White: Sit, RB4
Mattison is stuck in a timeshare where everyone is losing and hasn’t shown enough to warrant a start. The Steelers are no walk in the park for running backs (3rd-fewest points allowed to the position), making Mattison a sit this week. The same is true to an even greater extent for Zamir White.
Wide Receiver
Jakobi Meyers: FLEX Option, WR4
Tre Tucker: Sit, WR5
You aren’t starting any Raiders wide receiver this week, with Aidan O’Connell taking the reigns. Meyers and Tucker both have some viability ahead, but not against the Steelers in Week 6, who are stingy in terms of allowing fantasy points to wide receivers.
Tight End
Brock Bowers: Start, TE1
Brock Bowers has enough upside to warrant starting him against a Steelers defense that can be generous to tight ends. It is the only area of their defense that teams have found any success against this season. He’s a solid choice if you’re looking for a reliable TE1 on his volume alone, which he should continue to see in Davante Adams’ absence.
