Buffalo Bills
Quarterback
Josh Allen: START, QB1
Josh Allen is the nuclear weapon in your fantasy arsenal, but did you know that his steakhouse order causes consistent confusion with the waitstaff? His favorite food is a medium-rare ribeye, but he always requests A1 sauce strictly for dipping his fries, often having to reassure the servers that he would never commit the culinary crime of putting it on the steak itself.
Running Back
James Cook III: START, RB2
Ty Johnson: SIT
Ray Davis: SIT
James Cook is generally “fun fact” status, but this week requires some added context. He’s still a must-start, but Cook’s worst game of the year came against the Patriots in Week 5. This isn’t surprising, considering they’re one of three teams holding opponents to under 90 rushing yards per game and allowing the second fewest rushing touchdowns this season (five). I don’t tell you this to consider benching him; I tell you to make sure you’re aware that his usual sky-high ceiling is capped in such a difficult matchup. So if you’re having to make another lineup decision that involves upside, you may need a smidge more thought than usual.
Wide Receiver
Khalil Shakir: START, WR3
Gabe Davis: SIT
Joshua Palmer: SIT
When it comes to Bills receivers for fantasy football, there is one name and one name only to consider: Khalil Shakir. And he’s not even a must-start. He leads Buffalo in nearly all receiving stats but barely averages over 10 points per game. His role is the only thing keeping him a viable fantasy option.
Tight End
Dalton Kincaid: START, TE1
Dalton Kincaid is having a career year despite only playing in nine of 13 games, but he’s back to full practice and ready to serve as the top passing option for Josh Allen once again. Kincaid had a season high 108 receiving yards when the division rivals met in Week 5, and is a top fantasy option at tight end for Week 15.
Defense/Special Teams
Buffalo Bills: SIT
The Bills’ defense has just three sacks in their last five games and faces one of the highest scoring teams in the league with an implied game total pushing 50. Pass.
New England Patriots
Quarterback
Drake Maye: START, QB1
Drake Maye is a must-start signal-caller you can trust, but did you know that he has a non-negotiable requirement for his fast food orders? When visiting Raising Cane’s, he strictly orders a Box Combo with extra toast, famously declaring that the “toast is the game changer” and the most essential part of the meal.
Editor’s note: I strongly agree with Maye.
Running Back
TreVeyon Henderson: START, RB2
Rhamondre Stevenson: FLEX, RB3
Terrell Jennings: SIT
Technically, TreVeyon Henderson was the Patriots’ leading rusher in the game before their bye. But Hendo handled just one more carry than Rhamondre Stevenson despite averaging nearly three more yards per carry and a 9.1% explosive run rate compared to Stevenson’s 0.0%. Henderson is thankfully starting to see some of the touches inside the 10, but Stevenson is still seeing double the amount. The veteran back scored twice when the teams met in Week 5, although the rookie has since taken the lead role. Henderson is the better play with much more upside, but in a phenomenal matchup against the Bills, Stevenson can be started as a FLEX.
Wide Receiver
Stefon Diggs: START, WR2
Kayshon Boutte: FLEX, WR4
Mack Hollins: SIT
Demario Douglas: SIT
Kyle Williams: SIT
In his Week 5 revenge game, Stefon Diggs went b-a-n-a-n-a-s to the tune of 10 catches on 12 targets and 146 yards. But the Bills’ secondary has buckled down a bit, allowing just one other receiver over 100 yards in a game since then. Diggs has disappointed as of late, with two straight under double-digit fantasy points, but remains the top fantasy receiver in New England. He’s a risky WR2 considering he plays roughly 50% of the team’s offensive snaps. Kayshon Boutte is a boom/bust deep threat FLEX, but the Bills have allowed just one 20+ yard completion in their last four games. The rest of the Pats pass catchers are a roll of the dice, hoping for a touchdown.
Tight End
Hunter Henry: SIT
Hunter Henry was heating up heading into the bye, averaging 17.9 fantasy points in the Pats’ previous two games. But nearly 70% of that came against the Bengals, who bleed fantasy points to the position. Henry had a solid game against the Giants as well, but four catches for 73 yards isn’t anything to tell Santa about. Don’t go chasing waterfalls past week’s points, please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to what’s ahead. Bench Henry against the Bills, who allow the fewest points to the position. He’ll be a Week 15 busta.
