Cleveland Browns

Quarterback

Shedeur Sanders: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex)

Of course, in the chaos that was week 14, the game with an implied total under 35 points would wind up with a total of 60 points. Shedeur Sanders had the best game of his career, easily, throwing 364 yards and three touchdowns and chipping in an extra on the ground. But don’t be fooled: Sanders didn’t suddenly break out. He barely completed 50% of his 42 pass attempts, and it’s not like the Titans are an intimidating defense. Tennessee came into the matchup allowing multiple touchdown passes in five of its last six games. Sanders is still just a desperation start in Superflex leagues, but if you lost a quarterback or three this week, a Week 15 matchup against Chicago is another one in which he could put up serviceable numbers.

Running Back

Quinshon Judkins: START, RB2
Dylan Sampson: SIT
Jerome Ford: SIT

Quinshon Judkins has had the workload locked down, but quietly been a disappointment the second half of the season, scoring over 10 points just three times since Week 8. Much of that can be equated to the lack of a passing game, with Judkins facing 8+ defenders in the box on 55% of his rushing attempts, second only to James Cook and Derrick Henry. Even with Sanders showing signs of improvement, don’t expect that frequency to change, keeping Judkins a safe floor/mid-upside RB2 most weeks.

Wide Receiver/Tight End

Jerry Jeudy: FLEX, WR4
Cedric Tillman: SIT
Isaiah Bond: SIT
Harold Fannin Jr.: START, TE1
David Njoku: SIT

Jerry Jeudy came down with a 60-yard touchdown, but it was rookie tight end Harold Fannin with the big game, catching eight of 11 targets for 114 yards and a touchdown. It was Fannin’s first career 100-yard game and his second straight with a touchdown. Sanders’ performance is a massive boost to Fannin’s prospective upside, and with 22 targets over his last three games, consider him a TE1 for the fantasy playoffs. While I don’t trust Jeudy weekly, he’s the only other Cleveland pass catcher I’d be willing to start in the right matchup. Chicago is said to be the right matchup, allowing the third-most points to wide receivers, and back-to-back games in which an opposing receiver scored twice.

Defense/Special Teams

Cleveland Browns: START

Cleveland ranks 2nd with 44 sacks, but faces a challenge with the Bears. Chicago’s allowed just 20 sacks this season, tied for the 3rd fewest.

Chicago Bears

Quarterback

Caleb Williams: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex)

Caleb Williams has been inconsistent in his career. Still, one of his best attributes has been his ball security, which makes it slightly concerning that he’s thrown interceptions in back-to-back games for the second time this season. He’s done a better job getting into the end zone as of late, with six touchdowns in his last three games compared to six in the seven games prior, but he’s thrown for under 250 yards in five straight games. Don’t expect any different against the Browns. Cleveland has allowed just two quarterbacks to throw over that number: Drake Maye and…Geno Smith!? That can’t be right. Yep. Geno Smith. Anywho, only consider starting Williams in leagues that start two quarterbacks, and even then, I’d rather take a shot on J.J. McCarthy versus Dallas than Williams against Cleveland.

Running Back

D’Andre Swift: START, RB2
Kyle Monangai: FLEX, RB3

On one hand, Cleveland has allowed just two running backs to rush for over 100 yards this season and only nine rushing touchdowns. On the other hand, they just let Tony Pollard run for 161 yards and two touchdowns against them. TONY FREAKING POLLARD.

Sorry, sorry.

*deep breath*

Well, back to it then.

D’Andre Swift remains the heavy side of the Bears committee, but Kyle Monangai has 12 or more touches in four straight weeks and remains plenty involved in the Chicago offense. I still consider the Browns a tough matchup for running backs, putting Swift in the borderline RB2 range and Monangai as a FLEX.

Wide Receiver

Rome Odunze: START, WR3
DJ Moore: SIT
Luther Burden III: START, WR3 | FLEX (if Odunze active)

Rome Odunze returned to limited practice on Wednesday but would likely need to upgrade to full practice later in the week to have a chance to play in Week 15. It was revealed he’s been playing with a stress fracture in his foot, and while it sounds bad, it isn’t expected to keep him out much longer. With Odunze out, it was rookie Luther Burden who led the way for the Bears, with a modest four catches for 67 yards. DJ Moore caught just one pass and is dead to me for fantasy purposes. If Odunze’s out again, Burden is worthy of a start as a volatile WR3. If Rome can go, bump Burden to FLEX and Odunze to WR3.

Tight End

Colston Loveland: START, TE1
Cole Kmet: SIT

I would have liked to see more involvement for Colston Loveland with Odunze out, but at least the rookie is seeing consistent targets. Loveland had his third straight game with at least five looks in Week 14 and caught his second touchdown over that same period. Cleveland was a favorable matchup for tight ends early in the season, but tight ends have averaged three receptions and 30 yards since the Browns’ Week 9 bye. Loveland has some upside as a borderline TE1, but Cole Kmet is nothing more than a touchdown-dependent dart throw.
