Quarterback
Justin Herbert: SIT
Quarterback with one broken hand facing a difficult matchup has a poor performance?

Justin Herbert was able to salvage an otherwise dumpster fire day by rushing 10 times for 66 yards. Despite going to overtime, Herbert could only muster 139 passing yards and one touchdown and interception apiece. Heading into Kansas City, facing a defense that’s tied for allowing the third fewest passing touchdowns (14) all season, I’d expect a carbon copy performance to be close to the best-case scenario for Herbert in Week 15.
Running Back
Omarion Hampton: START, RB2
Kimani Vidal: FLEX, RB3
Omarion Hampton returned to the field and virtually split the workload with Kimani Vidal, 13 carries to Vidal’s 14. The rookie was unsurprisingly more efficient, averaging more than a full yard per carry and totalling 12 more yards on one fewer carry. Expectation is that Hampton will see more work in each passing week, but his horrid pass blocking could prevent him from a complete takeover. Generally seen as a strength of his game, Hampton got demolished twice on Monday night, seemingly costing himself snaps to Vidal towards the end of the game. I still expect Hampton to get the lion’s share of work eventually, but until he cleans that up, Vidal could be on the field more than we anticipated. Kansas City allows the seventh-fewest points to running backs, making Hampton a borderline RB2 and Vidal a risky FLEX.
Wide Receiver
Ladd McConkey: START, WR2
Quentin Johnston: FLEX, WR4
Keenan Allen: SIT
With Herbert’s struggles, so goes the fantasy value of the once heralded trio of Ladd McConkey, Quintin Johnston, and Keenan Allen. McConkey has fewer than five points in two of his last three games, and he only got into double digits in Week 13 thanks to a touchdown. QJ has no chance at big plays downfield with the Chargers’ MASH unit offensive line not giving time for plays to develop. Allen hasn’t been a fantasy factor in quite a while. The Chiefs have allowed just three touchdowns to wide receivers since Week 6, making McConkey a borderline WR2, Johnston a desperation FLEX, and Allen bench material.
Tight End
Oronde Gadsden: SIT
Another victim of the passing game’s struggles, Orande Gadsden’s season breakout came to a screeching halt. Gadsden hasn’t hit 10 points since Week 9 and has just four catches over his last three games. He has the explosiveness and athleticism to become an elite fantasy tight end, but he’s barely startable at the moment. I’d look elsewhere against Kansas City, who‘s allowing the sixth-fewest points to the position.
Defense/Special Teams
Los Angeles Chargers: STREAMER
Coming off a game in which they forced five turnovers against the Eagles and held opponents to under 20 points in five of their last six games, the Chargers make for a decent streamer against the struggling Chiefs.
Kansas City Chiefs
Quarterback
Patrick Mahomes: START, QB1/2 Borderline
The bounce-back against Dallas on Thanksgiving may have just been a gravy-induced fever dream, because Patrick Mahomes went from throwing four touchdowns to nearly throwing four picks against the Texans. His three-interception game against Houston was his first since 2022 and his fifth game in his last six with at least one. The Chiefs’ offense as a whole is struggling, and it could cost them a playoff berth. I don’t like betting against the future Hall of Famer, but Mahomes is a borderline QB in a must-win game at home.
Running Back
Kareem Hunt: FLEX, RB3
Isiah Pacheco: SIT
Brashard Smith: SIT
The only thing keeping Kareem Hunt‘s minimal fantasy value afloat is his goal-line role. The veteran has eight total touchdowns in his last nine games, but has just one over 100 rushing yards and six under 50. He’s a touchdown-dependent FLEX in a middling matchup, but he’s the only Chiefs running back in consideration for fantasy.
Wide Receiver
Rashee Rice: START, WR1
Hollywood Brown: SIT
Xavier Worthy: SIT
Despite coming off a disappointing game and facing the second-worst fantasy matchup for wide receivers, Rashee Rice is a week-in, week-out must-start WR1. Only Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Puka Nacua average more points per game than Rice. Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthy have three total 10+ point games combined since Week 7. Even if it was a good matchup, they’re both unstartable.
Tight End
Travis Kelce: START, TE1
Travis Kelce had looked close to his prime self for most of the season, but Week 14 was the first time he’s ever looked truly washed to me. He’s not entirely washed yet, as evidenced by his play most of this season, but he could struggle again in a difficult matchup. He’s startable, but his floor isn’t as safe as we considered it as recently as a week ago. I consider Kelce a low-end TE1 in Week 15.
Defense/Special Teams
Kansas City Chiefs: SIT
The Chiefs rank in the bottom 10 of forced turnovers and sacks.
