Las Vegas Raiders
Quarterback
Geno Smith: SIT
Geno Smith is more likely to be benched for Kenny Pickett than help you win your Week 7 matchup. You’re better off taking a zero than starting Smith. Kidding… (or am i?)
Running Back
Ashton Jeanty: START, RB1
You don’t need me to tell you to start Ashton Jeanty, but did you know he was born in the same hometown (Jacksonville, FL) as Ronnie Van Zant, the legendary frontman for the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd?
Wide Receiver
Tre Tucker: FLEX, WR4
Jakobi Meyers: FLEX, WR4
Jack Bech: SIT
Dont’e Thornton Jr.: SIT
Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker are the only Raiders receivers worthy of start consideration for fantasy purposes, and neither is anything more than a volatile FLEX option. Meyers wasn’t practicing at the time of writing, but there were no reports of him being in danger of missing Week 7. If he does, Tucker would jump to borderline WR3 status.
Tight End
Brock Bowers
Michael Mayer: SIT
Brock Bowers isn’t practicing at the time of writing, and considering the Raiders have a Week 8 bye, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him sit out Week 7 in an effort to get fully healthy. Michael Mayer would once again be the beneficiary if Bowers is out. Although he’s facing a Chiefs defense allowing the sixth fewest points to the position, Mayer would be a decent streaming option.
Defense/Special Teams
Las Vegas Raiders: SIT
The Raiders defense has given up 40 points in two of their past four games.
Kansas City Chiefs
Quarterback
Patrick Mahomes: START, QB1
You don’t need me to tell you to start Patrick Mahomes, but did you know he was born in the same hometown (Tyler, TX) as Pro Football Hall of Famer Earl “The Tyler Rose” Campbell?
Running Back
Isiah Pacheco: SIT
Kareem Hunt: FLEX, RB3
Brashard Smith: SIT
The Chiefs’ backfield has been wasteland for fantasy production this season, with Kareem Hunt as their highest ranked at RB35. Isiah Pacheco has more games under seven points than he has over, and the rookie Brashard Smith isn’t on the field enough to matter. Hunt is the only reliable startable Chiefs running back, and that’s only because of his goal-line role. Hunt has handled 71.4% of running back carries inside the five.
Wide Receiver
Rashee Rice: START, WR1
Xavier Worthy: START, WR2
Hollywood Brown: FLEX, WR4
Welcome back, Rashee Rice. He returns this week after a six-game suspension and slots right back in as the Chiefs’ WR1. Fire him up everywhere you have him. You deserve it. The return of Rice doesn’t relegate Xavier Worthy or even Hollywood Brown to the bench, but it does lower their floor just a bit. At the level of football Patrick Mahomes is playing right now, I have Rice ranked as a WR1 from the get-go, Worthy as a WR2, and Hollywood as an upside FLEX. All three are startable against the Raiders, who give up the sixth most points to the position.
Tight End
Travis Kelce: START, TE1
Travis Kelce has been a middle-of-the-road TE1 thanks to the volume he’s seeing, averaging over six targets per game. But he’s not been overly productive with his looks, surpassing 70 receiving yards just once and failing to hit 50 in 50% of his games this season. The return of Rashee Rice will have some sort of impact on Kelce’s target share. Exactly how swiftly will we decide if Kelce remains a weekly starting option? Fire him up against the Raiders despite the tough matchup, but be prepared for a mediocre performance.
Defense/Special Teams
Kansas City Chiefs: START
Any defense starting against Geno Smith is worth starting consideration.
