Carolina Panthers
Quarterback
Bryce Young: SIT
It appears Bryce Young will miss just one game due to his ankle injury, but he’s still off the radar for fantasy purposes. He’s thrown for over 200 yards just once this season (and it took 55 attempts) and heads to Green Bay to take on a Packers defense that’s held quarterbacks under 250 passing yards in five of seven games.
Running Back
Rico Dowdle: FLEX, RB3
Chuba Hubbard: BORDERLINE FLEX
While it’s not the route I would have gone, I understand the idea of splitting carries between two talented running backs and giving the ball to whoever starts cooking that day. But what in the Bojangles Bo Berry Biscuit was that? For the second straight week, Rico Dowdle more than doubled the yards per carry of Chuba Hubbard, yet for some reason Hubbard played 59% of snaps compared to dowdles 34%, and out-carried him 12 to 8. Hubbard also saw the only target between the two and scored the touchdown. As I said in the Week 8 edition of Start/Sit, this is an ugly timeshare. Panthers Head Coach Dave Canales said this week that they “can’t ignore” the recent play of Dowdle, but has failed to flat-out say he’ll see an increase in touches. Both Carolina backs are nothing more than low-floor, low-ceiling FLEX plays while sharing the backfield. Green Bay has yet to allow a 100-yard rusher this season and has given up just two touchdowns to the position.
Wide Receiver
Tetairoa McMillan: START, WR2
Xavier Legette: SIT
Jalen Coker: SIT
The volumes have been there for Tetairoa McMillan, but the production has left much to be desired. Despite averaging nearly eight targets per game, McMillan has yet to have his first 20-point fantasy performance and has just a trio of games with 16+ points. The Packers are an ok matchup, but until his quarterback situation gets better, Tet will live in middling WR2 land. Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker aren’t viable starting options outside the deepest of leagues.
Tight End
Ja’Tavion Sanders: SIT
Ja’Tavion Sanders has scored more than five fantasy points in seven of 21 career games.
Defense/Special Teams
Carolina Panthers: SIT
You want to risk starting a defense that just gave up a 40 burger? Be my guest.
Green Bay Packers
Quarterback
Jordan Love: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex)
Jordan Love has been about as consistent as Michael Scott’s vasectomy status.

Take his last four games, for example. Weeks 6 and 7, he combined for 438 passing yards and two touchdowns. Weeks 4 and 8 (Week 5 bye), Love combined for 697 passing yards and six touchdowns. So does Jan actually want to have a baby? So, does the good or bad Jordan Love show up this week? Well, the Panthers have actually played the pass well this season. They’re one of 10 teams holding their opponents to under 210 passing yards per game and opposing quarterbacks to a 63.6% completion percentage. The big-time performances have come against teams that have been able to consistently put points on the scoreboard. That is something the Panthers have not done. Love won’t torpedo your week, but it’s highly unlikely he throws another three tuddys.
Running Back
Josh Jacobs: START, RB1
Obviously start Josh Jacobs, but here’s a fun fact about the Packers’ stud RB: he was born in 1998, the same year the action-horror blockbuster Blade introduced Wesley Snipes as Marvel’s half-vampire vampire hunter. Let’s just hope he’s not trying to ice skate uphill against the Panthers.
Wide Receiver
Romeo Doubs: START, WR3
Christian Watson: FLEX, WR4
Matthew Golden: BORDERLINE FLEX
Romeo Doubs is the definition of a McDouble. He’ll never give you a goose egg, sees enough volume to usually get you around 10 points, and now and then will surprise you with a delicious stat line. Christian Watson‘s return nerfs his ceiling and chips away at his floor, but Doubs makes for a fine WR3. Watson and disappointing rookie Matthew Golden are both FLEX options you hope come down with a couple of big plays. Carolina has held their opponents to the fourth-lowest completion percentage on pass attempts over 20 yards, so don’t count on it.
Tight End
Tucker Kraft: START, TE1
The answer to which Packers receiver you want to start each week in fantasy is actually Tucker Kraft. He’s had a few duds, but through seven games, he leads Green Bay in receiving yards, yards per target, yards per reception, yards per route run, red zone targets, and touchdowns. He’s a must-start TE1 regardless of matchup, and teetering close to fun-fact status for the foreseeable future.
Defense/Special Teams
Green Bay Packers: START
The Panthers have scored 22 points over allowed nine total sacks over their previous two games. Green Bay happens to have that same number of sacks over their previous two games.
