New York Jets
Quarterback
Aaron Rodgers: Streaming Option
Back in the New York groove. Aaron Rodgers and the Jets snapped their five-game losing streak last Thursday against a reeling Texans team with a fairly convincing 21-13 win that would have been at least 27 if not for a bonehead play by rookie Malachi Corley. Nonetheless, Rodgers had a very poor first half but bounced back and threw for three touchdowns in the second half. He also had a nice scramble negated by a holding penalty, but it was encouraging for him to finally show a sign of mobility amongst all of the injuries tied to his name.
With Jordan Love and Geno Smith both on BYE, as well as Dak Prescott set to miss time, there’s a path this week to stream Rodgers if you need to, as the Cardinals are in the top-1o for most fantasy points allowed to opposing QB’s this season.
Running Back
Breece Hall: Start, RB1
Braelon Allen: Sit
It’s been a disappointing [fantasy] season for Breece Hall to say the least. Entering Week 10, he has only four touchdowns to his name, three coming on the ground and the other through the air. He’s been a bit inconsistent with his carries overall, but at least in the last two weeks, he’s averaging 77 rushing yards per game and has firmly taken the backfield back from rookie Braelon Allen, out-snapping him 44 to 17 last week per FantasyData.
The Arizona defense is poor against the run – allowing the sixth most fantasy points to RBs this year – and so this should be an opportunity for Hall to get back on track and have the sort of fantasy output that managers have been expecting all season.
Wide Receiver
Garrett Wilson: Start, WR2
Davante Adams: Start, WR2
The catch. Fortunately, the officiating got the call correct – and the Jets won the game, so it felt even more special – but Garrett Wilson had himself a night against the Texans. He caught nine of 10 targets for 90 yards and two touchdowns, both coming on one-handed grabs. Since Week 6, he has had at least eight targets in each game and is averaging 92.7 receiving yards per game in that span.
Davante Adams had his best game as a Jet as well, catching seven of 11 targets for 91 yards and a touchdown of his own to seal the win. Adams is no doubt freeing up Wilson, and vice versa, which trends for both to have success in this offense on any given week. Consider both receivers as WR2’s this week against a Cardinals defense that allows the ninth most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season.
Tight End
Tyler Conklin: Sit
Tyler Conklin laid a dud against the Texans last Thursday, having caught one of two targets for a result of -3 yards. In both games priors, he found the end zone, making him as touchdown-dependent as a TE can be. Conklin won’t be on the streaming radar this week against Arizona, but he could be in line for more targets with one pass catcher (Mike Williams, traded to the Steelers on Tuesday) now out of the picture.
Arizona Cardinals
Quarterback
Kyler Murray: Start, QB2
Arizona may have beaten the Bears 29-9, but Kyler Murray wasn’t a factor in the win. He completed 13 of 20 attempts for 154 scoreless yards and carried the ball just twice for six yards. It was Murray’s first game of the season without a passing touchdown, and it’s also worth noting that between Weeks 8 and 9, he only had 25 rushing yards on seven carries. The ability to take off and run is a key component to Murray’s game, and he’ll look to get right against a Jets defense that is on the slower side when it comes to chasing mobile QBs. That said, per StatMuse, the Jets have allowed a total of 211 rushing yards to QBs this season.
Running Back
James Conner: Start, RB2 with RB1 upside
Trey Benson: Sit
Emari Demercado: Sit
No concussion, no problem for James Conner last week against Chicago. After a brief exit, Conner turned 18 carries into 107 scoreless yards, also catching all three of his targets for 12 yards through the air. The Jets’ defense against the run is better from a fantasy lens – allowing the 12th fewest points to opposing RBs – than they are IRL, but fire up Conner as a locked-in RB2 with RB1 upside, as the Jets’ defensive front lacks true run stuffing ability.
Despite touchdowns from both Trey Benson and Emari Demercado in the rout of the Bears, neither back is a trustworthy option to have in your lineup as long as Conner is healthy.
Wide Receiver
Marvin Harrison Jr.: FLEX option, WR3
Michael Wilson: Sit
Greg Dortch: Sit
Man, has it been tough sledding for Marvin Harrison Jr. himself, as well as fantasy managers. Last week against Chicago, he had just five targets, catching two of those looks for 34 scoreless yards. Marv and Kyler are struggling to build on the flashes we saw back in Week’s 2 through 4, a span in which Harrison Jr. found the end zone a total of four times. Since then (Weeks 5 through 9), he has a collective 13 receptions for 202 yards and a touchdown, though we should note he exited early with a concussion in Week 6. The Jets’ defense leads the league with the least amount of fantasy points allowed to opposing WRs, and right now, Harrison Jr. is finding himself in FLEX territory. If you have better viable options to start ahead of him, this is a week to pull that trigger.
Both Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch can be left on your wire, as they are simply not offering any fantasy value week over week.
Tight End
Trey McBride: Start, TE1
Trey McBride had his fantasy day saved with a rushing touchdown against the Bears, which was his first of such kind. Otherwise, he caught just three of four targets for 35 scoreless yards. He’s yet to find the end zone this season through the air, but Murray and he seem to have a much better rapport over Harrison Jr. McBride has TE1 upside this week against New York. FantasyData projects him to finish as the TE4 this week in full-PPR formats.
