Philadelphia Eagles

Quarterback

Jalen Hurts: Start, QB1

There’s been much focus on how well Hurts has been playing since the Eagles’ Week 5 Bye, and deservingly so. From Week 6 on, Hurts in the QB2 behind only Lamar by a mere 2 points in 4-point passing TD formats. Much of the success comes hand-in-hand with A.J. Brown’s availability, who is expected to play in this game. He hasn’t turned the ball over since before the Bye and has gone three straight weeks with at least 3 touchdowns via a combination of passing and rushing.

Running Back

Saquon Barkley: Start, RB1
Kenneth Gainwell: Sit

The dude who invented the reverse hurdle? Yeah, Saquon Barkley is a start every week he plays. Dallas’ rush defense is nothing to be afraid of, and Saquon is an all-pro bellcow on one of the highest rushing teams in the league. Saquon’s gone three straight weeks putting up over 100 yards on the ground with a touchdown in two of those three games. His workload doesn’t leave many touches for Kenneth Gainwell, though.

Wide Receiver

A.J. Brown: Start, WR1
Devonta Smith: Start, WR2
Jahan Dotson: Sit

Fortunately for Eagles fans and A.J. Brown managers, the injury to his knee that sidelined him for the majority of last week’s game was nonstructural, and he’s expected to play. Dallas’ pass defense is middle of the pack, which won’t be any threat to slowing down the WR7 in points per game. Likewise, Devonta Smith has also been averaging 15.2 fantasy points per game in PPR, which lands him as the WR16 on a per-game basis. His production has been irrelevant to whether Brown plays or not, but he did pop up on Wednesday’s injury report with a hamstring issue – something to monitor heading into the weekend. Unfortunately, despite an incredible catch this past weekend, Jahan Dotson hasn’t fulfilled a meaningful role in this receiving room and isn’t expected to pick up much workload even if Devonta isn’t cleared to play.

Tight End

Dallas Goedert: Streaming Option, TE2
Grant Calcaterra: Sit

Goedert surprisingly showed up as a full participant in Wednesday’s practice report after being sidelined with a hamstring injury since Week 6. Even if Devonta Smith doesn’t play, we wouldn’t expect Goedert to jump right back into being heavily involved, especially after how serviceable Grant Calcaterra has been in his stead. Calcaterra might squeak his way into streaming consideration if neither Devonta nor Goedert suits up, but he should probably be left out of consideration if either is available.

Dallas Cowboys

Quarterback

Cooper Rush: Sit

Getting another opportunity to fill in for Dak Prescott like he did last season, Cooper Rush has shown the ability to be a reasonable second-string QB when the franchise needs him, though he provides little to no value in fantasy. Philadelphia has also allowed the 12th fewest points to opposing QBs, and this offense has been anything but efficient even with the highest-paid QB in the league.

Running Back

Rico Dowdle: FLEX Option, RB3
Ezekiel Elliott: Sit
Dalvin Cook: Sit

Rico Dowdle comes into this week after logging 10+ points in his last four games played, but the Eagles run defense is one of the most difficult matchups out there as they’ve allowed the 4th fewest points to opposing RBs. Dowdle can still be considered for a FLEX play purely due to the volume he should see, but the best hopes for his production would be involvement in the passing game, as all 3 of his TDs this season have come through the air. Dowdle’s taken the lead duties in this backfield, so Ezekiel Elliott and Dalvin Cook should be left out of your starting lineup.

Wide Receiver

Ceedee Lamb: Start, WR1
Jalen Tolbert: Sit
Jonathon Mingo: Sit

As Justin Jefferson has proved in Minnesota, a talented receiver can still produce without their high-end QB. Expectations should be managed because Philadelphia’s secondary has been getting better each week, Lamb suffered a minor sprain to his AC joint and now has his backup QB throwing him the ball. The volume and big play potential are still there, though, so there may never be a week he’s not in your lineup when he’s playing. Jalen Tolbert should not be started due to the same reasons Ceedee’s output may take a hit. Also, the new acquisition of Jonathon Mingo may make his debut as a Cowboy, but other higher-profile WR trades have taken place on other teams and have shown new weapons rarely see high volume in their first game.

Tight End

Jake Ferguson: Start, TE1

Ferguson barely made the cut as a TE1 after being listed as TE12 on The List because backup QBs tend to find their safe, reliable targets on shorter and intermediate-depth passes. He brought in 7 of his 10 targets last week and should be the safety blanket for Rush’s first start of the season.
