Los Angeles Rams
Quarterback
Matthew Stafford: START, QB1
I missed the memo; it was apparently old-head quarterback week in the NFL. Matthew Stafford joined Joe Flacco in throwing four more tuddys, taking his total to a league-leading 21 touchdown passes this season. Stafford threw all four touchdowns while being blitzed after throwing all five of his touchdowns the previous week while being blitzed. His nine total touchdowns are the most for any player in a two-game span since 2016. Stafford has thrown 16 TDs and no INTs against the blitz this season. Do not blitz this man. Period. He doesn’t offer the rushing upside of some of the elite quarterback options, but Stafford’s back is strong enough to carry your fantasy team to victory.
Running Back
Kyren Williams: START, RB1
Blake Corum: SIT
Kyren Williams turned 25 touches into his first 100-yard rushing game of the season against the Saints, averaging 4.6 yards per carry for 114 total yards, and got into the end zone as well. Williams isn’t the most efficient of backs, but his role in one of the best offenses in the league is on lock. He’s at worst a volume-based borderline RB1 in any matchup. Blake Corum has done well with the touches he’s seen, but it’s not enough to consider him anything more than a handcuff.
Wide Receiver
Davante Adams: START, WR1
Puka Nacua: START, WR1
Jordan Whittington: SIT
Puka Nacua is obviously a lock in your lineup, but did you know that in his 2023 rookie season, he broke the NFL season records for most receptions (105) and most receiving yards (1,486) by a rookie? And you absolutely need to start Davante Adams every week, but did you know that he is the only player in NFL history with three seasons of 110+ receptions, 1,350+ receiving yards, and 11+ receiving touchdowns?
Tight End
Tyler Higbee: SIT
#Benchthebee
Defense/Special Teams
Los Angeles Rams: START
The Rams are tied for third in sacks with 27 and fifth in turnovers with 12. Over their last three games, Los Angeles is holding opposing teams to 6.7 points per game.
San Francisco 49ers
Quarterback
Brock Purdy: SIT, QB2 (startable in Superflex)
Mac Jones: SIT, QB2 (startable in Superflex)
At the time of writing, Brock Purdy was still limited in practice, leaving the answer to who’s the 49ers Week 10 starting quarterback up in the air. Whether it’s Purdy or Mac Jones, whoever starts is an option for Superflex leagues, but best left on benches in 1QB. The Rams have allowed the fifth-fewest points to opposing quarterbacks, although Jones did have the only 300-yard passing game against the Rams this season in Week 5. As good as this defense is, I’d bet against it happening again.
Running Back
Christian McCaffrey: START, RB1
You absolutely need to start Christian McCaffrey every week, but did you know that in Week 9, he broke Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk‘s record for the most career games with both a rushing and a receiving touchdown?
Wide Receiver
Jauan Jennings: START, WR3
Kendrick Bourne: SIT
Ricky Pearsall: SIT
Jauan Jennings is at least consistent, catching four passes for the third straight game, but this time coming down with a touchdown against the Giants. He leads all Niners receivers in targets and yards and is the only San Fran receiver worth starting at this point. He’s a low-upside WR3 against the Rams, who haven’t given up a passing touchdown to a wide receiver since Week 4. Kendrick Bourne has come back to earth, and Ricky Pearsall is still missing in action due to a knee injury.
Tight End
George Kittle: START, TE1
Georeg Kittle has been a huge disappointment since coming back from injury, but remains a TE1 and should bounce back with the eventual return of Purdy, as explained by our very own Christian Otteman in his Fantasy Playoff Trade Targets article rightttttttttttttttttttttttt here
Defense/Special Teams
San Francisco 49ers: SIT
The 49ers’ defense has been decimated by injury this season and has just seven turnovers.
