Indianapolis Colts

Quarterback

Daniel Jones: START (in Superflex), Borderline QB1

It was another Dr Jekyll and Mr Jones and me game before the bye in Berlin for Daniel Jones. He played well most of the game against Atlanta, throwing for 255 yards on just 26 attempts, but as is typical with Jones, he made some dumb mistakes under pressure. It was his second straight game with multiple turnovers, making it seven turnovers for DJ in the Colts’ last two games. Unfortunately for Jones, the Chiefs pressure opposing quarterbacks at a rate just a smidge under that of the Falcons, 40.9% compared to 41.7%. I still consider him a borderline QB1, but the turnover trend is definitely becoming a concern.

Running Back

Jonathan Taylor: START, RB1

Former Badger Jonathan Taylor is an obvious start, but did you know that comedian and actor Anders Holm, famous for creating and starring in the hit TV comedy Workaholics, is also an alumnus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison?

Wide Receiver

Michael Pittman Jr: START, WR2
Alec Pierce: START, WR3
Josh Downs: FLEX, WR4

From Weeks 7-9, Alec Pierce had seen a 9% increase in targets at the expense of Tyler Warren and Josh Downs, but against the Falcons, the victim was Michael Pittman. Pittman sadly saw a season low of two targets. Against the Falcons, Pierce caught four of seven targets for 84 yards, averaging 12 yards per target and 21 yards per reception, including a 37-yard touchdown in the first quarter. The down game for Pittman doesn’t concern me long-term, and all of the Colts’ pass catchers are startable pretty much every week. Against the Chiefs, who give up the sixth fewest points to the position, consider Pittman a WR2, Pierce an explosive WR3, and Downs a solid FLEX who likely needs a touchdown to get into double-digit fantasy points.

Tight End

Tyler Warren: START, TE1

After back-to-back weeks under 10 points, Tyler Warren had a wonderful stat line in Week 10: eight catches on 10 targets, coming just one yard shy of breaking 100 yards for the first time in his career. All three were season highs, and against a Kansas City defense giving up the seventh fewest points to the position, view Warren as a borderline TE1.

Defense/Special Teams

Indianapolis ColtsSIT

The Colts’ defense has been one of the best in the league and has 31 sacks, but I’d pivot away from the potential shootout in Kansas City.

Kansas City Chiefs

Quarterback

Patrick Mahomes: START, QB1

Patrick Mahomes sandwiched his Week 10 bye with mediocre performances, but that was against Denver and Buffalo, who have given up the second-fewest and fourth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. The Colts have held their own against QBs, allowing just three passing touchdowns in three games before their bye. They also traded for Sauce Gardner, as well as designating cornerback Charvarius Ward and linebacker Jaylon Carlies eligible to return from IR, opening their 21-day practice window. Neither a sure thing to play Sunday, but it would bolster an already loaded defense. Mahomes is still a start in all formats as well as he’s played this season, and with an implied total pushing 50, could be set for a bounce-back even against a formidable defense.

Running Back

Kareem Hunt: FLEX, RB3
Isiah Pacheco: SIT

Brashard Smith: SIT

Isiah Pacheco returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since injuring his knee in Week 8, a great sign he’ll be ready to roll for Sunday’s game against Indy. Kareem Hunt has been servicable, scoring double digit fantasy points in three striaght games thanks to scoring in three straight games. The return of Pacheco slips Hunt back into touchdown-dependent FLEX territory, with Hunt’s red zone roll keeping Pacheco from anything more than a bench stash for now.

Wide Receiver

Rashee Rice: START, WR1
Xavier Worthy: SIT
Hollywood Brown: SIT

Rashee Rice is a weekly must-start, but did you know that the legendary actress Lauren Graham, famous for her iconic role as Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls and her work on Parenthood, is also an alumnus of SMU? Xavier Worthy is dealing win an ankle injury and scored fewer than 10 fantasy points in three of his last four games. Rice is the only Chiefs receiver worth starting in fantasy.

Tight End

Travis Kelce: START, TE1

After averaging just under 10 fantasy points through the first four weeks, Travis Kelce was able to shake it off and turn around his slow season. Since Week 5, Kelce has averaged over 16 points per game and scored over 20 in two of his last three. The Colts are allowing the fourth-most points to the position, setting Kelce up nicely to continue his recent resurgence. All’s well that ends well to end up with Kelce as your starting tight end.

Defense/Special Teams

Kansas City Chiefs: SIT

Facing the highest scoring team in the league with a game total projected close to 50 points is not a defense I want to start in fantasy.
