Carolina Panthers

Quarterback

Bryce Young: SIT, QB2 (startable in Superflex)

WHERE DID THIS COME FROM, BRYCE YOUNG? All the talk of late has been how the Panthers have to move on from their former first overall pick and start their quarterback search immediately (myself included in those talks), and Young responds with the best passing game of his career. It was Young’s third 300-yard passing game, and per Next Gen Stats, 212 of Young’s 302 yards came on passes over 10 yards, including two of his three touchdowns. Even though this came against a good Atlanta defense, I don’t trust Young just yet. But the performance was enough to at least make me willing to consider him a streamer in a good matchup.

Running Back

Rico Dowdle: START, RB2Dawg (shoutout u/Ben_Waffleburger)
Chuba Hubbard: SIT

Rico Dowdle scored 15 or more fantasy points in his third straight game and has just one under 10 since Week 4. Since coach Dave Canales handed him the reins to the Panthers’ backfield, Dowdle has put up numbers and is a borderline RB1 against the 49ers. Chubba Hubbard has taken a firm backseat and isn’t even a must-roster anymore.

A cool moment from last week’s game: Dowdle convinced head coach Dave Canales to call the screen play that set up the team’s victory against Atlanta.

Wide Receiver

Tetairoa McMillan: START, WR2
Xavier Legette: SIT
Jalen Coker: SIT

Two of those Young touchdowns went to rookie Tetairoa McMillan, who had his second two-touchdown game and set season highs with eight catches on 12 targets and 130 receiving yards. Not much changed for McMillan. His target share was pretty much the norm. The difference was that Young actually threw for over 150 passing yards. Xavier Legette caught his third touchdown of the season, but he is battling a hip injury and remains off the fantasy radar.

Tight End

Tommy Tremble: SIT

Tommy Tremble has a total of 8.8 fantasy points since Week 7.

Defense/Special Teams

Carolina Panthers: SIT

Hell hath no fury like a former player traded away.

San Francisco 49ers

Quarterback

Brock Purdy: START (in Superflex), borderline QB1

Brock Purdy threw three touchdown passes in his first game back from his toe injury, but had a modest 200 yards and completed just 19 passes. There will be some rust as he gets back into game shape, but Purdy’s back to a borderline QB1 and a must-start in Superflex. His presence brings joy to Kittle fantasy managers all over the world.

Running Back

Christian McCaffrey: START, RB1
Brian Robinson Jr. SIT

Christian McCaffrey is obviously a lock in your lineup, but did you know that the legendary actress Sigourney Weaver, famous for pioneering the action heroine role in the “Alien” franchise and “Ghostbusters,” is also an alumnus of Stanford University?

Wide Receiver

Jauan Jennings: FLEX, WR4
Ricky Pearsall: FLEX, WR4

Kendrick Bourne SIT

Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall will fight for whatever target share is left after George Kittle and CMC take their fair share. They’re both flex options against the Panthers, who have allowed the fourth-fewest points to the position.

By the way, Jennings has a bag in the shape of a dolphin named Roscoe.

Tight End

George Kittle: START, TE1

The return of Purdy did wonders for George Kittle, and shoutout to our very own Christian Otteman, who identified the splits and had Kittle as a trade target in one of his most recent articles.

Kittle came down with all six of his targets for 67, or as my kids would say … six seevvven … yards and two touchdowns.

I’m sorry.

Defense/Special Teams

San Francisco 49ers: STREAMER

I don’t buy the big Bryce Young performance.
