Chicago Bears

Quarterback

Caleb Williams: START, Borderline QB1

The full Caleb Williams experience was on display Monday night against the Vikings. He looked every bit the part of a former #1 overall pick early in the game, connecting on his first 10 pass attempts and rushing for a touchdown. But things got ugly, and Williams would fail to score again until 2 minutes left in the fourth quarter. But the Lions could be just what the doctor ordered. Detroit was the only team that failed to put pressure on the opposing quarterback in under three seconds, allowing 8.6 yards per pass attempt (seventh most) and two passing touchdowns in just 22 attempts. It’ll be a wild ride with Williams this season, but the signs are there that Johnson is on his way to fixing him.

Running Back

D’Andre Swift: START, RB2
Roschon Johnson: SIT
Kyle Monangai: SIT

The Packers, Browns, and Bengals were the only three teams to hold their opponents to under 50 rushing yards, and Green Bay was the only one of the trio not to allow a rushing touchdown. D’Andre Swift‘s usage in the passing game keeps him in the RB2 range, but his inefficiency running the ball could lead to more work for the other Bears backs.

Wide Receiver

D.J. Moore: START, WR2
Rome Odunze: START, WR3
Olamide Zaccheaus: SIT
Luther Burden III: SIT

Two Chicago receivers had at or above a 20% target share in Week 1, Rome Odunze and —checks notes— Olamide Zaccheaus. DJ Moore wasn’t far behind them with a 14.3% target share, but early indications are Zaccheaus has a role in this offense, bad news for rookie Luther Burden III and the ceilings of Moore and Odunze. The latter two likely take turns as the top target for Williams, keeping them in the borderline WR2 range.

Tight End

Cole Kmet: SIT
Colston Loveland: SIT

You’re not starting any Bears tight ends in fantasy at the current time.

Detroit Lions

Quarterback

Jared Goff:  SIT, QB2 (Startable in SuperFlex)

The post Ben Johnson era for Jared Goff and the Lions offense was u-g-l-y, and they ain’t got no alibi. Goff turned nearly 40 pass attempts into just 225 yards and one touchdown. Granted, Goff has historically struggled in Lambeau, so it wasn’t a shock. The Bears’ defense was as uneven as their starting quarterback in Week 1, and a high projected game total points toward a potential shootout. Back home in dome sweet dome, this week is a big test to see if the Lions are truly lost without their old offensive coordinator, who will be on the opposing sideline.

Running Back

Jahmyr Gibbs: START, RB1
David Montgomery: START, RB2 (just barely)

Jahmyr Gibbs is the only Lions offensive piece I’m not worried about, regardless of how good or bad they wind up at the end of the season. He’ll end up with close to 20 touches every game, and scored 15 fantasy points despite rushing nine times for 19 yards. His target share keeps him an elite RB1. David Montgomery, on the other hand, I’m a tad concerned. It was a nice surprise to see him get four targets, but if the Lions offense truly takes a step back, fewer leads to grind away the clock with and more time playing from behind is not the environment that’s conducive to production for Montgomery.

Wide Receiver

Amon-Ra St. Brown: START, WR1/2 borderline
Jameson Williams: START, WR3
Isaac TeSlaa: SIT

Over the past three seasons, Amon-Ra St. Brown has had six or fewer targets just nine times. If the 2025 Lions offense means less consistent target volume for the Sun God, he’ll take a long tumble from his WR1 status of seasons past. It’s way too early to panic, but if the trend continues over the next few weeks, we have to readjust our perception of him from a fantasy perspective. Jameson Williams is what he is, a highly volatile WR2/3 who can just as easily end up with zero as he can with 30. Isaac TeSlaa came down with an amazing one-handed touchdown grab, and his role should continue to grow as the season moves along. But he’s not startable just yet. With one of the highest point implied team totals and game totals on the week, ARSB and Jamo are primed for a bounce back. We hope.

Tight End

Sam LaPorta: START, TE1

Sam LaPorta was the lone bright spot for the Lions offense against the Packers, leading the way with six catches on nine targets for 79 yards. He’s locked in as a TE1 and could return to elite status if the new look Lions offense continues to feed him a healthy dose of targets.
