Denver Broncos

Quarterback

Bo Nix: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex)

Bo Nix was possibly the most disappointing fantasy quarterback of Week 1 outside of Joe Burrow, and I don’t expect Week 2 to be much better. Projected to be one of the lowest-scoring games of the week, Nix faces a Colts defense that completely squish squashed the Miami Dolphins’ offense, holding Tua Tagovailoa to less than 150 passing yards. We’ll find out how much of that was the Colts’ defense and how much was the ineptitude of the Miami offense. Indy has a strong secondary that could keep Nix in check as well.

Running Back

J.K. Dobbins: FLEX, RB3
RJ Harvey: FLEX, RB3
Tyler Badie: SIT

Tyler Badie surprisingly saw six targets, but it’s highly unlikely that it continues. J.K. Dobbins led the team in touches, but RJ Harvey‘s explosiveness was on full display, outrushing Dobbins 70-63 despite 10 fewer carries. As long as they’re sharing the backfield, the Broncos duo sits at borderline RB2-FLEX status. Both are startable, but both are risky.

Wide Receiver

Courtland Sutton: START, WR2
Marvin Mims Jr.: SIT
Troy Franklin: SIT

Even with the poor play of Bo Nix, Courtland Sutton scored 18.1 fantasy points thanks to a late touchdown. His status as Bo’s bae keeps him a volume-based WR2 regardless of matchup. Troy Franklin outtargeted Marvin Mims six to four, but neither is reliable enough to consider starting.

Tight End

Evan Engram: START, TE1

Evan Engram sustained a calf injury in his Broncos debut and was unable to finish the game. At the time of writing, he’s been limited in practice but is expected to suit up Sunday. If he’s active, Engram is a solid start considering he saw four targets despite playing just 34% of snaps.

Indianapolis Colts

Quarterback

Daniel Jones: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex)

Daniel Jones made me look a tiny bit smart for touting him as a post-hype sleeper. He didn’t look amazing, but he’s a decent enough passer when given time to throw, and his rushing upside provides a nice floor-ceiling combo. I was ready to put him inside my top 15 until I saw his Week 2 opponent, the Broncos. “Indiana” Jones is still worth starting in Superflex, but I’ll have to see more than one week of production before I’m ready to start him in difficult matchups.

Running Back

Jonathan Taylor: START, RB1
DJ Giddens: SIT

Jonathan Taylor left early against Miami after taking a hit to the neck, but he reportedly could have returned to the game if it had been closer. Taylor rushed for 71 yards on 18 carries and came down with three catches, but his upside could be capped if Jones continues to rush for touchdowns. He’s an every-week starter, but he’s in for tough sledding against the Denver defense. DJ Giddens didn’t do much in relief of Taylor and remains off the fantasy radar.

Wide Receiver

Michael Pittman Jr.: START, WR3
Alec Pierce: SIT
Josh Downs: SIT

Michael Pittman led all Colts receivers with six catches for 80 yards and a touchdown on eight targets. He’s the WR1 for the Colts, but doesn’t profile as a true alpha and likely gets the shadow treatment from Patrick Surtain this week. He’s still startable, but keep your expectations in check. Josh Downs is unstartable and borderline droppable with the emergence of rookie tight end Tyler Warren.

Tight End

Tyler Warren: START, TE1

Considering the other weapons on offense, I’ll stop short of saying Tyler Warren will have a Brock Bowers-like rookie season. But he’s off to a great start, finishing as the TE3 in his NFL debut and commanding nine targets from Jones. Consider him an every-week starter unless his targets drop drastically over the next few weeks.
