Carolina Panthers

Quarterback

Bryce Young: SIT

The goodwill Bryce Young entered the season with after his second-half resurgence in 2024 quickly evaporated after a dreadful showing against Jacksonville. Young completed a mere 51.4% of his passes, threw two interceptions, and lost a fumble. He did throw a touchdown and chip in 40 rushing yards, but that’s the extent of the positive news. Regardless of the matchup, Young’s accuracy needs to drastically improve before you can consider starting him in any format.

Running Back

Chuba Hubbard: START, RB2
Rico Dowdle: SIT
Trevor Etienne: SIT

Arizona allowed just over 100 yards rushing in Week 1 and gave up a rushing touchdown, giving Chuba Hubbard an overall neutral matchup. Hubbard had 12 more carries than Rico Dowdle and Trevor Etienne combined, and comfortably remains the lead back for Carolina.

Wide Receiver

Tetairoa McMillan: START, WR2
Xavier Legette: SIT
Hunter Renfrow: SIT

Until Young picks up his play, Tetairoa McMillan is the only startable wide receiver in Carolina. He’ll maintain WR2 value based on volume, but McMillan’s upside is capped as long as Young continues to be inaccurate. The rookie should have come down with his first touchdown of his NFL career, but Young overthrew him.

Tight End

Ja’Tavion Sanders: SIT

Not even a consideration.

Arizona Cardinals

Quarterback

Kyler Murray: START, QB1

Kyler Murray failed to eclipse 200 yards passing, but still threw two touchdowns and added 38 yards on the ground. It was encouraging to see Murray have seven rushing attempts, and if he stays around that number every game, both his floor and ceiling jump. He’s a top 10 play in Week 2.

Running Back

James Conner: START, RB2
Trey Benson: FLEX, RB3

Could we be witnessing the beginning of the end for James Conner? Not as an NFL-caliber player, but as a bell-cow back. Conner had four more rushing attempts than backup Trey Benson, but could only muster 39 yards thanks to a subpar 3.25 yards per carry. Benson nearly doubled Conner’s rushing total on just eight carries, thanks to an 8.63 yards per carry. Conner currently maintains RB2 status, but a changing of the guard may be happening in Arizona sooner than later. Benson is currently on FLEX status, but his arrow is pointing up.

Wide Receiver

Marvin Harrison Jr.: START, WR1
Zay Jones: SIT
Michael Wilson: SIT

A sophomore breakout looks plausible when Marvin Harrison Jr. can score nearly 20 fantasy points in a game, despite seeing just six targets. He’s an every-week starter and locked in as the top receiver for Murray. If their chemistry continues to grow, a WR1 finish this season is well within reach.

Tight End

Trey McBride: START, TE1

This quote says it better than I ever could.
