Philadelphia Eagles
Quarterback
Jalen Hurts: START, QB1
You don’t need me to tell you to start Jalen Hurts. But did you know he eats the same thing for breakfast every day? It’s eggs, turkey bacon, and a carb.
Running Back
Saquon Barkley: START, RB1
Will Shipley: SIT
Tank Bigsby: SIT
You don’t need me to tell you to start Saquon Barkley. But did you know he has a sandwich named after him at Wawa? “The Saquon” consists of turkey, cheese, lettuce, onions, and spicy mustard.
Wide Receiver
A.J. Brown: START, Borderline WR1
DeVonta Smith: START, WR3
Jahan Dotson: SIT
A.J. Brown remains one of the league’s elite receivers at the age of 28, so there’s no need to panic after his one-catch opener against Dallas. He and DeVonta Smith are both in a perfect “get right” spot facing a Chiefs defense that allowed over 300 passing yards and three touchdowns to Justin Herbert, two of which went to Quentin Johnston.
Tight End
Dallas Goedert: Start, TE1 *injury risk, may not play
Dallas Goedert popped up on the injury report with a knee injury that kept him from practicing Wednesday. He’s trending towards not playing in Week 2, but even if he’s active, he’s a risk considering the injury. His seven Week 1 targets are encouraging for a potential bounce-back year.
Kansas City Chiefs
Quarterback
Patrick Mahomes: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex)
Facing one of the top defenses in the league in Philadelphia that held the Cowboys under 200 yards passing, Patrick Mahomes is likely to be without both Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy in Week 2. I’m avoiding starting Mahomes in 1QB leagues, and would consider sitting him for the likes of J.J. McCarthy or Trevor Lawrence in Superflex.
Running Back
Isiah Pacheco: START, RB2/FLEX Borderline
Kareem Hunt: SIT
Brashard Smith: SIT
I’m not ready to bench him yet, but I am concerned for Isiah Pacheco‘s fantasy value with Kareem Hunt matching him in both carries and targets in Week 1. Pacheco is still a borderline RB2, but another week or two of splitting work would significantly lower Pacheco’s floor and ceiling. He’s my RB25 this week, but could tumble further in future weeks.
Wide Receiver
Hollywood Brown: FLEX, WR4
Xavier Worthy: SIT (likely out)
JuJu Smith-Schuster: SIT
With Xavier Worthy likely out for multiple weeks and Rashee Rice suspended until Week 7, Hollywood Brown is the last man standing in Kansas City. He’s set for an incredible amount of targets, as shown by the 16 he had in Week 1. As long as he’s seeing 10 or more targets, he’s worth a FLEX play in your lineups.
Tight End
Travis Kelce: START, TE1
No longer the elite tight end cheat code he once was, he should see enough volume with the shallow receiver room that Travis Kelce is a locked-in starter.
