Buffalo Bills
Quarterback
Josh Allen: START, QB1
You don’t need me to tell you to start Josh Allen. But did you know Allen eats lots of carbs the night before a game due to the fact that he throws up before every game?
Running Back
James Cook: START, RB1*
Ty Johnson: SIT/FLEX if James Cook is inactive
Ray Davis: SIT/FLEX if James Cook is inactive
James Cook is virtually a must-start outside of eight-team leagues, but he popped up on the Wednesday injury report with a limited practice due to a hamstring issue. If he were to miss, Ty Johnson and Ray Davis would both be in FLEX consideration.
Wide Receiver
Keon Coleman: START, WR3
Khalil Shakir: START, WR3
Joshua Palmer: FLEX, WR4
Keon Coleman can silence a lot of his doubters with a big Week 2 performance. Coleman struggled against the Jets last season, scoring 11.3 total points in two games. This is the same defense that gave up four passing touchdowns to forty-year-old Aaron Rodgers, so a consecutive 20+ point game is well within Coleman’s range of outcomes. Khalil Shakir and Joshua Palmer saw nine targets apiece and are both startable. Shakir is the safer play, but Palmer has the much higher ceiling
Tight End
Dalton Kincaid: SIT
Despite scoring a touchdown against the Ravens and the Jets giving up two touchdowns to the position, Dalton Kincaid isn’t a viable starting option.
New York Jets
Quarterback
Justin Fields: START, QB1
The safety offered by Justin Fields‘ rushing prowess has him flirting with must-start status. If he can maintain solid passing numbers, he could be headed for a top-five season finish.
Running Back
Breece Hall: START, RB1
Braelon Allen: SIT
Isaiah Davis: SIT
Among running backs with at least ten carries in Week 1, Breece Hall had the second-highest explosive run rate (15+ yards), only behind shocker, Derrick Henry. At least for one week, talk of a Lions-like committee for the Jets was greatly exaggerated. Hall played 58.1% of snaps and 19 carries compared to 30.6% of snaps and six carries for Braelon Allen. Facing the defense that King Henry achieved the league-best 22.2% explosive run rate against bodes well for Hall’s chances of a repeat RB1 finish.
Wide Receiver
Garrett Wilson: START, WR3
Josh Reynolds: SIT
Tyler Johnson: SIT
The only Jets receiver that should sniff your starting lineup is Garret Wilson. His eight targets were tied with the combined target total of all other Jets’ wide receivers and tight ends. Zay Flowers finished as the WR1 last week against the Bills. Considering the Jets are seven-point underdogs and the volume Wilson commands, he’s a WR1 for Week 2.
Tight End
Mason Taylor: SIT
Battling an ankle injury and seeing just one target in his NFL debut, Mason Taylor isn’t on the fantasy radar.
