Game at a Glance
The Dolphins offense bounced back in a big way in Week 2, scoring nearly 30 points after opening the season with an 8-point stinker. The Bills followed up their miraculous comeback against the Ravens by completely shutting down the Jets in the Meadowlands. Not much changed fantasy value-wise for the Bills, but the Dolphins showed enough not to avoid benching anybody not named De’Von Achane.
Miami Dolphins
Quarterback
Tua Tagovailoa: SIT
I’m still not quite ready to trust putting Tua in my lineups unless absolutely necessary. While he did throw for over 300 yards and toss two tuddys, he also threw a pick and was sacked five times. You may not have a choice considering all the quarterback injuries this week, but I’d prefer to keep Tua on the bench until we see some consistency out of the Dolphins offense.
Running Back
De’Von Achane: START, RB1
Ollie Gordon II: SIT
Already a lineup lock, De’Von Achane has a chance to finish as the RB1 overall for Week 3. Buffalo will be without two key starters on Thursday, linebacker Matt Milano and defensive end Ed Oliver.
Wide Receiver
Jaylen Waddle: START, WR3
Tyreek Hill: START, WR3
Malik Washington: SIT
It was a semi-vintage performance for Tyreek Hill in Week 2, as he was able to get over the century mark thanks to the Dolphins force-feeding him the ball. Jaylen Waddle was also a beneficiary of a far more assertive Miami offense, catching 5 passes for 58 yards and his first touchdown of the season. I still don’t trust either, but Week 1 to Week 2 improvement was enough to consider them starters in most leagues. You just have to understand that the chances of them dropping a big ole’ goose egg are far greater than seasons past.
Tight End
???
There is still nobody who can tell me if the Dolphins actually have a tight end on their roster.
Defense/Special Teams
Miami Dolphins: SIT
The Dolphins are allowing 33 points per game to opposing offenses, the 2nd most in the league. You’re not starting them against Josh Allen and co.
Buffalo Bills
Quarterback
Josh Allen: START, QB1
You don’t need me to tell you to start Josh Allen. But did you know Allen’s favorite song is “That’s Life” by Frank Sinatra?
Running Back
James Cook III: START, RB1
Ty Johnson: SIT
Ray Davis: SIT
James Cook went off in Week 2, scoring 2+ touchdowns in the first half for the 23rd time in his career. With a top 10 fantasy matchup on deck, he’s a locked-in RB1 even on a short week.
Wide Receiver
Joshua Palmer: FLEX, WR4
Keon Coleman: START, WR3
Khalil Shakir: FLEX, WR5
After coming completely bonkers against the Ravens, Keon Coleman had a dud against the Jets. But because of the Jets’ offensive ineptitude, there’s not much of a takeaway from the Bills’ Week 2 passing game. Buffalo didn’t have to pass much, Josh Allen didn’t throw a touchdown, and he completed just 14 passes. Coleman is a high upside WR3, with Khalil Shakir and Josh Palmer living in the FLEX range. It’s entirely possible for a repeat of Sunday’s game script, and the pass game will lack fantasy production because of it.
Tight End
Dalton Kincaid: STREAMER, TE2
A healthy target share has Dalton Kincaid in streamer tight end status. Kincaid led the Bills in both targets and receptions against the Jets, and could be the beneficiary once again if the Bills nerf their pass game due to a large lead.
Defense/Special Teams
Buffalo Bills: START
The Bills’ defense has six sacks and five forced fumbles through two weeks. Unless they face one of the NFL’s top offenses, they’re starting for you most weeks.
