Game at a Glance

The Chiefs and Giants both enter Week 3 winless. Will Russell Wilson make Patrick Mahomes start 0-3?

Kansas City Chiefs

Quarterback

Patrick Mahomes: START, QB1

Patrick Mahomes has yet to have his full arsenal of weapons available, but he’s managed to score two touchdowns in each of the first two weeks. He’s surprisingly averaging over 50 rushing yards per game as well. Against a Giants defense allowing over 400 yards of offense per game, Mahomes could be in line for a monster get-right game.

Running Back

Isiah Pacheco: START, RB2
Kareem Hunt: SIT

It’s been a rough start to the season for Isiah Pacheco, but he’s in the perfect get-right spot, facing off against the league’s worst run defense. The Giants’ defense has allowed 171 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on average over the first two weeks.

Wide Receiver

Juju Smith-Schuster: SIT
Xavier Worthy: START, WR2
Hollywood Brown: FLEX, WR4/START, WR2 (If Worthy is out)

Considering Xavier Worthy played about 13 seconds of his first game before leaving with a shoulder injury, we don’t know exactly what the target distribution will look like if he’s able to suit up for “Sunday Night Football.” But a juicy matchup awaits if he returns, with the Giants allowing the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Hollywood Brown is worth starting with or without Worthy, but would jump to borderline WR2 status if he tops the depth chart for one more game.

Tight End

Travis Kelce: START, Borderline TE1

The future Mr. Taylor Swift is no longer the elite option he once was, but he sees enough volume to maintain startable status.

Defense/Special Teams

Kansas City Chiefs: START

Facing Mr. Unlimited gives the opposing defense unliiiiimited potential for turnovers.

New York Giants

Quarterback

Russell Wilson: SIT, QB2 (startable in Superflex)

I don’t know what to make of Russell Wilson after two weeks as a New York Giant. He showed some flashes of his old self in Week 2, but also some bonehead plays. I don’t trust Russ, but his bounce-back performance is reassuring for the fantasy values of Malk Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson. Wilson is a matchup-based option in S.F., as long as you’re willing to accept the risk of him throwing up a goose egg.

Running Back

Tyrone Tracy Jr.: FLEX, RB3
Cam Skattebo: FLEX, RB3

Devin Singletary made the start over Tyrone Tracy, totaling one rushing attempt, one target, one catch, and zero net yards. The ceremonial start says more about Tracy than anything positive for Singletary. Tracy was also on kick return duty, not a great sign for his status as the starting running back. He’s a borderline flex option in PPR due to targets. Cam Skattebo scored his first career touchdown on 14 combined attempts and targets. He took 11 carries for 45 yards and a rushing touchdown, chipping in two catches on three targets. But the best sign for Skat’s future fantasy value is his handling of all five of the Giants’ red-zone rush attempts. Tracy may technically still be ahead of him, but Skattebo is coming for his job.

Wide Receiver

Malik Nabers: START, WR1
Darius Slayton: SIT
Wan’Dale Robinson: FLEX, WR4

You don’t need me to tell you to start Malik Nabers. But did you know his favorite movies include “Holes” and the “John Wick” series? Wan’Dale Robinson had the best game of his career and has 18 targets through two games. He’s a borderline WR3-FLEX option for now.

Tight End

Theo Johnson: SIT

No. Just … no.

Defense/Special Teams

New York Giants: SIT

The Giants’ defense has allowed over 430 yards in each game this season.
