New Orleans Saints
Quarterback
Spencer Rattler: SIT
While he’s earned the retirement of the J. Jonah Jameson laughing meme, Spencer Rattler isn’t starting in any leagues until bye weeks start, and that will strictly be in Superflex.
Running Back
Alvin Kamara: START, RB2
Kendre Miller: SIT
Devin Neal: SIT
Without the consistent target volume he’s seen in seasons past, Alvin Kamara is relegated to a volatile RB2. His extremely high upside remains intact, but his floor is no more. Buffalo is an overall neutral matchup, but considering the Saints will likely play most of this game from behind, there’s hope he’ll get more than the two targets he’s seen in two of three games.
Wide Receiver
Chris Olave: START, WR3
Brandin Cooks: SIT
Rashid Shaheed: FLEX, WR5
The story remains the same each week for Chris Olave: an excess of targets, a bunch of catches, but minimal yardage and no touchdowns (so far). Olave’s seen a league-leading 37 targets through three games, which elevates his floor, but until he starts catching some touchdowns or the yardage total goes up, he’s a WR3. Rashid Shaheed remains a boom/bust FLEX play. Similar to Kamara, both are startable based on the feasible game script of playing from behind most, if not all, of the game.
Tight End
Juwan Johnson: STREAMER, TE1/2 Borderline
I may be a tad lower on Juwan Johnson than most. But in a limited offense against a Bills defense giving up the second fewest points to opposing tight ends, I’m not too keen on Johnson’s upside, even if/when the Saints play catch-up. He’s a near must-start, but look elsewhere if you’re shooting for upside.
Defense/Special Teams
New Orleans Saints: SIT
Against Josh Allen? In this economy?
Buffalo Bills
Quarterback
Josh Allen: START, QB1
You don’t need me to tell you to start Josh Allen. But did you know his favorite movies are Interstellar, Nacho Libre, and Back to the Future Part II?
Running Back
James Cook III: START, RB1
Ty Johnson: SIT
Ray Davis: SIT
You don’t need me to tell you to start James Cook, but did you know he attended the illustrious Miami Central High School, known for producing multiple NFL running backs? Alumni of “Running Back High” include James, his brother Dalvin Cook, as well as Willis McGahee and Devonta Freeman.
Wide Receiver
Keon Coleman: FLEX, WR4
Khalil Shakir: FLEX, WR4
Joshua Palmer: SIT
Elijah Moore: SIT
Looking on his way to a sophomore breakout after a 25.2 point Week 1, Keon Coleman has been relegated back to volatile FLEX status after combining for six catches and 46 yards in the past two weeks. Both Joshua Palmer and Elijah Moore are unstaratable despite their big-play ability, and even Khalil Shakir is a shaky start due to his unusually low target share. In a game where the Bills may not have to air it out much, starting any Buffalo receiver is a risk.
Tight End
Dalton Kincaid: STREAMER, TE1/2 Borderline
Dalton Kincaid is surprisingly second in target share for the Bills at 15.8% and leads the team in end zone targets with three. He’s earned streamer status for the foreseeable future, regardless of matchup. I have him just ahead of Juwan Johnson in my weekly ranks (TE14 and TE15, respectively).
Defense/Special Teams
Buffalo Bills: START
Is Spencer Rattler the opposing team’s quarterback? If yes, start the D/ST.
