New Orleans Saints

Quarterback

Tyler Shough: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex)

All aboard the Shough Truck! Shoutout to my partner in crime Brett Ford, who has been driving that four-wheel vehicle for a while now. I’ll say, he’s convinced me to ride shotgun, and 410 yards and three touchdowns isn’t too shabby. But the two picks are what concerns me. Shough has a career 13:11 touchdown-to-interception ratio, and it took 56 pass attempts to get to 410 yards. It’s still very impressive, but it’s something worth mentioning. He also lost one of his two fumbles. Shough is a fine Superflex play, but I’d rather not play him in 1QB against a Baltimore defense that just held the Colts to 166 passing yards.

Running Back

Travis Etienne Jr.: START, RB1
Alvin Kamara: SIT
Kendre Miller: SIT

I have been admittedly high on Travis Etienne Jr., and while 14.8 PPR points is a modest intro to NOLA, the signs are there that some spike weeks aren’t far away. ETN had an 11.1% explosive run rate, averaged over five yards per carry, and handled 8 targets for 7 receptions. His involvement in the passing game keeps his floor high, and those efficiency and explosiveness numbers scream he’s one cut away from a 20+ point performance. Baltimore gave up two touchdowns on the ground to Indy, and I think ETN gets his first in a Saints uniform this week.

Wide Receiver

Chris Olave: START, WR1
Devaughn Vele: FLEX, WR4

It’s simple. Chris Olave is an auto start with the type of volume he’s seeing. Olave turned 13 targets into 10 catches for 182 yards, nearly scoring 30 fantasy points without a touchdown. Until Jordyn Tyson is back, it appears Devaughn Vele should be startable. Shough targeted Vele nine times, and he came down with seven of them with an impressive 1.25 yards per route run. The 0.6 yards after contact per reception is disappointing, but it’s the exact same as Olave. Vele is a volume play at FLEX while he’s seeing this amount of targets.

Tight End

Juwan Johnson: START, TE1

The biggest winner with Tyson out has to be Juwan Johnson. He only came down with three catches on six targets, but two of said targets were of the end zone variety, and all of them were first read. Johnson scored his first TD of the season and is locked in as a TE1 while Tyson is out.

Defense/Special Teams

New Orleans Saints: SIT

Nearly 400 yards and four touchdowns. No thanks.

Baltimore Ravens

Quarterback

Lamar Jackson: START, QB1

You know you’re starting Lamar Jackson. He’s the fancy touchscreen soda machine at Circle K. There are 147 different combinations, it does several things a soda machine has no business doing, and you have absolutely watched a grown man stare at it in awe.

Editor’s note: It’s me. I’m the grown man. I’m staring in awe.

Running Back

Derrick Henry: START, RB1
Justice Hill: SIT

Will we ever stop doubting the king? Derrick Henry has aged like a mighty fine wine, starting the season handling 24 carries and averaging 6 YPC. Unsurprisingly, Henry dished out the pain with 3.21 yards after contact and scored thrice. Lock him in weekly, regardless of matchup.

Wide Receiver

Zay Flowers: START, WR1
Rashod Bateman: SIT (FLEX if Flowers OUT)
Devontez Walker: SIT
Ja’Kobi Lane: OUT

Zay Flowers, you beautiful man. You had a 29% target share despite leaving the game with a hamstring issue and not playing a snap in the second half. Your 16.6 YAC per reception was tops in the league for Week 1. The Ravens said if it was a playoff game, Flowers could have come back in, and the contest was well out of reach by half. There was no need to rush him back in. At the time of writing, there was no word either way with Flowers; if he’s in, he’s starting. Ja’Kobi Lane was having a fantastic debut, just to fracture his wrist and is out multiple weeks himself. I wouldn’t be surprised if Flowers misses this week and potentially next with the Ravens taking on the Cowboys in Brazil. If Flowers is out, Rashod Bateman becomes an interesting FLEX, but I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Baltimore lean even more heavily on the ground game.

Tight End

Mark Andrews: STREAMER

Even in his old age, Mark Andrews makes for a solid start in fantasy. Five of his six targets were first read, and he had a solid 2.33 yards per route run. He’s a borderline every-week starter who can be considered a streamer in just about any scenario.

Defense/Special Teams

Baltimore Ravens: START

Two sacks. Two turnovers. Held the Colts under 270 yards of offense.
