New England Patriots

Quarterback

Drake Maye: START (in Superflex), Borderline QB1

Someone get Drake Maye a Liquid IV, because he’s still not worn off his Super Bowl hangover. A league-leading six interceptions, averaging less than 200 passing yards per game, and throwing to the trio of Romeo Doubs, Mack Hollins, and Demario Douglas with A.J. Brown on the shelf.

BUT.

A top-10 fantasy matchup against Buffalo just might be good for what ails him.

Running Back

TreVeyon Henderson: START, RB2
Rhamondre Stevenson: START, RB2
Corey Kiner: SIT

So much for any sort of clarity for this backfield. Through three games (two with both TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson active), it seems like the Patriots backfield is going to be the classic “who’s week is it to be the guy” kind of headache. Stevenson’s snap percentage in the two games with Hendo? Thirty-six and fifty-two percent. Hendersons? Sixty percent and thirty-seven percent. Both averaging about 12 combined carries and targets per game is nerfing their fantasy production, with neither hitting nine points per game. It’s a great matchup against Buffalo, but neither can be considered anything more than a low-end RB2 while the usage is this murky.

Wide Receiver

Romeo Doubs: FLEX, WR3/4
Mack Hollins: FLEX, WR4
Demario Douglas: SIT

Until the return of A.J. Brown, the Pats receiving corps is one where it’ll be a different guy each week. Romeo Doubs, Mack Hollins, and Demario Douglas are all volatile FLEX plays with shaky floors and limited ceilings, and that’s the order I’d start them in as well.

Tight End

Hunter Henry: SIT

I think it’s time we come up with a term for something lower than tHe gLoB.

Defense/Special Teams

New England Patriots: SIT

Joshua Patrick Allen.

Buffalo Bills

Quarterback

Josh Allen: START, QB1

Hear me out.

Josh Allen is a cake pop from Starbucks. He’s both absurdly valuable and a little ridiculous. You look at the price and think, “There’s no way this tiny thing should cost that much,” then you get it anyway because it really is that good.

Oh, and you start him.

Running Back

James Cook III: START, RB1
Ty Johnson: SIT
Ray Davis: SIT

After a disappointing Week 1 with just a smidge under 10 fantasy points, James Cook is averaging 20+ points over the past two weeks. He ranks first in RB carry share with 97% and second in yards per carry with six. He’s a stud. You start him too.

Wide Receiver

DJ Moore: START, WR2
Khalil Shakir: FLEX, WR4
Keon Coleman: SIT

Crisis averted. After looking like his season could be over after leaving Week 2 against the Lions, Moore wound up suiting up Week 3. He wasn’t able to get into the end zone, but saw a team-high 10 targets and averages nearly three yards per route run. The Pats are an overall neutral matchup, but being the guy for Josh Allen keeps Moore’s weekly ceiling high. If you’re looking for a guaranteed six points with an outside shot at 10, Khalil Shakir is your man.

Tight End

Dalton Kincaid: START, TE1

Dalton Kincaid ranks first among tight ends in aDOT at 12.9, yards per route run at the position at 3.87, and tied for first in deep targets with three. Kincaid is an easy start every week, even with the worst fantasy matchup for tight ends on tap.

Defense/Special Teams

Buffalo Bills: STREAMER

Maye’s struggles make this a matchup worth considering, even if the Bills’ defense has been lackluster thus far.
