New York Giants
Quarterback
Jameis Winston: START (in Superflex), Borderline QB1
He’s not quite must-start status (or anywhere near it), but Jameis Winston‘s three-touchdown performance against the Cardinals at least gives a little hope for the rest of season potential for Malik Nabers and the rest of the Giants’ weapons. Winston dazzled with some impressive throws, and his ability to extend plays when the pocket broke down was key to the Giants’ win. But vintage Jameis shone through a few times with inaccurate and errant pass attempts that have plagued him his entire career. A top three matchup against the Commanders should make your tummy grumble if you’re looking to eat a fantasy W this week. Starting Winston doesn’t come without risk, which prevents him from being a top 12 option in Week 5. But I’m willing to start him in just about any format.
Running Back
Cam Skattebo: START, RB2
Najee Harris: SIT
Tyrone Tracy Jr.: SIT
The Giants trust Cam Skattebo. That point was made evident when he handled five straight carries on the Giants’ final drive to burn clock and secure the win. Najee Harris had 50% of the workload of Skatt, and honestly looked rather spry. Harris’ late-game fumble thankfully didn’t cost them the game, but it may have cost Harris an opportunity to eat any more into Skatt’s workload and, in turn, save his fantasy value from dropping even further. Skattebo has been fine, but it’s thanks to volume, as he’s sporting 3.5 yards per carry on the season and just one rushing touchdown to his name. Similar to Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Bhayshul Tuten, if Harris continues to see 8-10ish carries, it’ll be just enough to cut the tip off the top of Skattebo’s RB1 upside. The Washington draw isn’t a kind one for opposing running backs, pushing Skattebo closer to the back of RB2s than the top.
Wide Receiver
Malik Nabers: START, WR1
Malachi Fields: SIT
Darnell Mooney: SIT
Until the return of Jaxson Dart next season, starting Malik Nabers is always going to have a goose egg floor. That’s just reality with Winston and potentially (gulp) J.J. McCarthy under center this season. But at least with Winston, Nabers should get plenty of opportunity to do a little more of this.

A top five matchup with Washington puts Nabers firmly in WR1 range for Week 5, but he won’t be a weekly top 12 option with the shaky situation under center. Malachi Fields caught the first touchdown of his NFL career but isn’t seeing enough volume to be considered throwing in your lineup.
Tight End
Isaiah Likely: START, TE1
It’s likely Jameis is grateful for Isaiah, because Isaiah Likely‘s adjustments saved inaccurate throws from Winston more than once on Sunday. Likely leads the team with a whopping 31.5% target share and currently sits as the TE5 on the season. Washington just so happens to be a top five fantasy matchup for tight ends, thanks to allowing five touchdowns to the position heading into Week 5.
Defense/Special Teams
New York Giants: STREAMER
The Giants struggled to contain the run in the first half of their matchup against the Cardinals, but put the clamps down in the second half. They’re not getting pressure on the quarterback, but against a team traveling back from an overseas game and a quarterback coming back from a dislocated (non-throwing arm) elbow, the Giants are worthy of streamer status.
Washington Commanders
Quarterback
Jayden Daniels: START (in Superflex), Borderline QB1
Jayden Daniels returned to full practice on Wednesday, October 7th, giving us the green light to consider him the starter for Week 5 against the Giants. He’s only played a game and a half, so it’s unfair to not take his 130 passing yards per game and zero rushing touchdowns with a major grain of salt. But a 56.9% completion percentage and 5.1 yards per attempt give me pause at the idea of considering him an automatic QB1.
Running Back
Jacory Croskey-Merritt: SIT
Austin Ekeler: SIT
Rachaad White: SIT
When will everyone just admit that Jacory Croskey-Merritt is just not that good? He finished with seven fantasy points last week (his highest total since Week 1), has a sub-3 yards per carry, and has fewer catches and receiving yards than Rachaad White on the season, who missed last week. Now add Austin Ekeler to the mix, and there’s not a single Washington running back I want to start for fantasy, even in a neutral matchup against the Giants.
Wide Receiver
Terry McLaurin: Likely OUT (WR2 if Active)
Stefon Diggs: START, WR2 (WR3 if McLaurin Active)
Antonio Williams: FLEX, WR4
It was too early in the week at the time of writing to be able to tell if Terry McLaurin would be able to return from his hamstring injury against the Giants, but it’s considered less than likely. The added volume for Stefon Diggs would bump him into WR2 range, and rookie Antonio Williams makes for a fine FLEX play. It’s not showing up on the stat sheet just yet, but Williams is flashing. Just look:
This played deserved to count. Antonio Williams is going to be good. pic.twitter.com/T2QwYCr2Ci

It’s not the first time he’s had a big play disallowed by penalty. I’m not saying definitely start him, but if the rook is available on your waiver wire, scoop and stash him. He has the talent to be an end-of-season league winner.
Tight End
Chig Okonkwo: SIT
Move along. Nothing to see here. You can stop here when Chig Okonkwo has a game with more than 16 total yards.
Defense/Special Teams
Washington Commanders: STREAMER
There’s always a shot at a pick-six with Jameis under center.
