Houston Texans
Quarterback
C.J. Stroud: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex)
C.J. Stroud threw multiple touchdowns for the second time this season, and both times just so happened to be when Nico Collins was in the lineup. It was Stroud’s second time throwing for nearly 350 yards as well, and he’s shown enough this season that he can be trusted as a borderline QB1 in good matchups, and a must-start for Superflex in them. Unfortunately, the Titans aren’t that. They’re allowing the fifth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season, allowing just one passing touchdown per game.
Running Back
David Montgomery: FLEX, RB3
Woody Marks: FLEX, RB3
Dare Ogunbowale: SIT
This was supposed to be the week that David Montgomery bounced back, and instead we got his third dud in a row. Monty rushed for two more yards than Woody Marks on four more carries, and Marks only handled six rush attempts. But it was Marks who got the ball on arguably the most important play of the game. Marks wasn’t overly impressive, but the Texans’ continued use of him in the red zone is promising. The Titans are a middle-of-the-road matchup, but neither back is anything more than a FLEX play.
Wide Receiver
Nico Collins: START, WR1
Kayshon Boutte: SIT
Xavier Hutchinson: SIT
Nico Collins had himself a day against the Cowboys, just in the first quarter. Collins came back with a vengeance, grabbing three balls for 57 yards and a touchdown in the first. He played slightly fewer snaps than normal, but looked healthy from the jump. If he’s active (and he should be), he’s a borderline WR1 in nearly any matchup.
Tight End
Dalton Schultz: SIT
Schultz had the one breakout game in Week 2 when Collins was out but otherwise hasn’t scored over 7.5 PPR points in a game this season. He shouldn’t be started.
Defense/Special Teams
Houston Texans: START
This Texans defense hasn’t been the fantasy force we’re used to, but they’re facing a Titans offense scoring less than two touchdowns per game.
Tennessee Titans
Quarterback
Cam Ward: SIT
Cam Ward has thrown for more than 200 yards just once this season and is averaging less than one passing touchdown per game. He’s done nothing to show he’s ready to make a jump in his sophomore season, and should be considered a bench in all formats until further notice.
Running Back
Tony Pollard: FLEX, Rb3
Tyjae Spears: SIT
Nicholas Singleton: SIT
If you have legit no other option, Tony Pollard can be started as a volume-based FLEX. But for your own sanity, please find another option. The Texans have been surprisingly beatable through the air, but on the ground, the Texans have been as tough a matchup as we’d expect. They’re tied for the sixth-fewest yards allowed per game to RBs (76.25). Yes, they allowed a hat trick of touchdowns to Javonte Williams last week, but the Titans are not the Cowboys.
Wide Receiver
Carnell Tate: START, WR2
Wan’Dale Robinson: FLEX, WR4
Elic Ayomanor: SIT
After a slow start in his first two professional games, Carnell Tate has back-to-back games with double-digit fantasy points without finding the end zone. He’s averaging over 10 targets per game over that period and is a WR2 despite Ward’s poor play thanks to volume, his explosiveness, and a matchup with a Texans team allowing the most fantasy points to the position. Don’t be fooled by Wan’Dale Robinson‘s two straight games with 10+ points, however. He’s caught touchdowns in both, masking the fact he’s totaled 10 catches for 76 yards over that span.
Tight End
Gunnar Helm: SIT
Gunnar Helm has a total of 15 fantasy points this season.
Defense/Special Teams
Tennessee Titans: SIT
The Titans defense has one turnover this season and is not in fantasy consideration ever. Ever ever. Forever ever?
