New York Giants

Quarterback

J.J. McCarthy: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex)

J.J. McCarthy impressed me against the Texans, and he gets a much better matchup coming out of the bye. Philly allows the 10th-most points to the position and can’t get to the quarterback, averaging the fewest sacks per game in the NFL. JJM didn’t throw any touchdowns against Houston, but I expect he’ll get into the end zone against the Eagles, who’ve given up 12 passing scores this season and allow 25.2 points per game. I’m not starting him in 1QB leagues, but all things considered, McCarthy makes for a solid but risky Superflex start.

Running Back

Cam Skattebo: START, RB2
Devin Singletary: FLEX, RB3

Cam Skattebo hurt his hamstring late in the game against the Texans, and the hope is he’d be ready coming out of the bye. Unfortunately, he’s not practicing at the time of writing, and his status for Sunday is uncertain. Skatt received the message from his head coach loud and clear, following up his Week 6 “benching” with his best game of the season. Tyrone Tracy suffered an injury himself in Week 7 and was placed on the IR, making Devin Singletary the only viable option behind Skattebo. If he’s unable to go, Singletary bumps from a borderline FLEX to an RB2. The Eagles allow the fifth-most rushing yards per game and have given up five rushing touchdowns since Week 4.

Wide Receiver

Malik Nabers: START, WR1
Malachi Fields: FLEX, WR4
Darnell Mooney: SIT

You’re starting Malik Nabers no matter what. He’s like the restaurant with terrible service, sticky menus, and a 45-minute wait, but the food is incredible. With his targets trending in the right direction and a matchup against an Eagles defense giving up nearly 40 points per game to the position, Malachi Fields makes for an interesting FLEX play with some spike week potential. Don’t force him in your lineup, but if you’re in need, he’s an option wth some upside that’s widely available.

Tight End

Isaiah Likely: START, TE1

Isaiah Likely had his first dud in a Giants uniform before the bye, and things don’t get easier coming out of it. The Eagles are the third-worst matchup in fantasy for tight ends, allowing less than 10 points per game and giving up just two touchdowns to the position (to Tommy Tremble of all people). His four targets with JJM under center were the lowest he saw all season, and hopefully that was just an aberration. Likely remains a TE1 based on his body of work so far this season, but another poor performance and low target total could start to push Likely down a tier or two.

Defense/Special Teams

New York Giants: STREAMER

Philadelphia scores the third-fewest points per game and is starting Joe Milton.

Philadelphia Eagles

Quarterback

Joe Milton: SIT

Picked up off the Cowboys’ practice squad just a few weeks ago, Joe Milton takes over as the Eagles starter in possibly the best-case scenario. The Giants don’t give up much passing yardage, but they’ve allowed the second-most fantasy points to the position thanks to 17 total touchdowns given up to quarterbacks. Milton isn’t startable even in Superflex until we see what he looks like in game action, but he should be rostered in all Superflex leagues. His rushing ability could offer an enticing floor if he’s able to be a remotely decent passer.

Running Back

Saquon Barkley: START, RB2
Jaydon Blue: SIT

Follow what happens the rest of the week, because if it’s the same pattern Saquon Barkley practiced last week, he’ll likely suit up Sunday. Barkley didn’t practice Wednesday, the same as last week, when he didn’t practice on Thursday either and got in a limited session on Friday. Battling through injury, he was able to play and get into the end zone and should be started if active. But the risk factor is higher than ever, as he could leave the game at any given moment if he tweaks something.

Wide Receiver/Tight End

Makai Lemon: SIT
DeVonta Smith: SIT
Dontayvion Wicks: SIT
Dallas Goedert: SIT

DeVonta Smith isn’t practicing at the time of writing, but even if he starts to and is able to suit up Sunday, sit him. There’s no pass catcher on Philly I’m willing to throw in my lineup with Milton under center until we see if the offense is even functional. The Giants are a middle-of-the-road matchup, but have only allowed four completions of 20+ air yards, so the slim chances of a big play get even slimmer.

Defense/Special Teams

Philadelphia Eagles: SIT

Philly has the fewest sacks in the league and is tied for the fewest takeaways. There’s no path even with JJM under center.
