Location: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX

Network: CBS

Kansas City Chiefs

Quarterback

Patrick Mahomes: START, QB1

It’s been a rough stretch of games for Patrick Mahomes from a statistical standpoint, sporting a 1:3 touchdown-to-interception ratio in his last three games. But it’s not too surprising, seeing as Mahomes has faced Buffalo, Denver, and Indianapolis, who’ve given up a combined eight passing touchdowns and forced 11 total interceptions since Week 8. I won’t say the dominant Dallas we saw against Vegas was a fluke, but they’re still a matchup that should get you all hot and bothered when you see your quarterback is facing them.

Running Back

Kareem Hunt: START, RB2
Isiah Pacheco: SIT

Brashard Smith: SIT

Isiah Pacheco returned to a full practice for the first time since Week 8 and is on track to return on Thanksgiving against the Cowboys. The question is, what’s his role? Kareem Hunt was already handling 67% of the Chiefs’ touches inside the five from Weeks 1-8 and outperforming him in the three games before his Week 8 injury. From Weeks 5-7, Hunt ran for 5.3 yards per carry with an explosive run rate of 5.9% and 2.4 yards after contact, compared to Pacheco’s 4.2 yards per carry, 2.9% explosive run rate, and 2.0 yards per carry. Hunt is the Kansas City running back I want for fantasy, and he’s a strong RB2 against Dallas, even with the impending return of Pacheco. Brashard Smith wasn’t able to capitalize on the absence of Pacheco and should no longer be considered a top handcuff.

Wide Receiver

Rashee Rice: START, WR1
Xavier Worthy: START, WR3
Hollywood Brown: SIT | FLEX, WR4 (If Rice or Worthy Inactive)

Both Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy were limited in practice early in the Week, but neither was considered in real jeopardy of missing the Thanksgiving Day matchup with Dallas at the time of writing. Rice is already locked into your lineup if active, but Worthy is deserving of starting consideration this week, too. Dallas is the top fantasy matchup for opposing wide receivers, allowing 1.61 yards per route run (4th most) and 24 receiving touchdowns to the position (2nd most) this season. Were one to miss, Hollywood Brown bumps into the FLEX discussion.

Tight End

Travis Kelce: START, TE1

Travis Kelce‘s streak of 10+ fantasy points came to an end after three straight, but Week 12 was just the second time since Week 5 he failed to score double digits. As abysmal as the Dallas defense has been this season, they’ve not given up tons of production to tight ends. The Cowboys have held all but Brock Bowers under 70 receiving yards and surrendered just three touchdowns to the position. I’d feel much more comfortable with his floor if Rice or Worthy were inactive, but you’re not benching Kelce regardless. If both can go, I wouldn’t be shocked if he was held under 10 points for a second consecutive game. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

Defense/Special Teams

Kansas City Chiefs: SIT

The Chiefs’ defense hasn’t forced a turnover since Week 8.

Dallas Cowboys

Quarterback

Dak Prescott: START, QB1

Things started slow for Dak Prescott against the Eagles, but he’d finish Week 12 with 354 passing yards and three total touchdowns in the Cowboys’ comeback win. That’s seven total touchdowns over his past two games, further cementing himself as a week-in, week-out, must-start regardless of matchup. The Chiefs allow the 10th fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks, just one spot ahead of the Philly defense that Dak just torched.

Running Back

Javonte Williams: START, RB2

Javonte Williams had at least 20 rush attempts for the second straight game, but Williams’ failure to get into the end zone since Week 8 has him averaging barely over 10 points per game in his last three. Running backs haven’t found much success against the Chiefs this season. James Cook is the only back to rush for 100 or more yards, and they’ve given up just a duo of rushing touchdowns to running backs since Week 4 (to Ty Johnson and Jaleel McLaughlin, naturally). His volume keeps him locked into your lineup every week, but until he starts scoring or gets more involved in the pass game, Williams can be viewed as an RB2.

Wide Receiver

George Pickens: START, WR1
CeeDee Lamb: START, WR1

CeeDee Lamb is a weekly must-start, but did you know that his annual Thanksgiving charity campaign is inspired by his own childhood experience as a Boys & Girls Club kid? He personally takes families on grocery shopping sprees to ensure they have everything needed for the full holiday meal. And there’s no benching George Pickens, but did you know that on Thanksgiving Day 2023, Pickens and former Steelers teammate Broderick Jones had Thanksgiving dinner at the home of their head coach, Mike Tomlin, because they were unable to fly home for the holiday?

Tight End

Jake Ferguson: SIT

Jake Ferguson had his first game with over 50 receiving yards since Week 3, doing just enough to keep him from the clutches of tHe gLoB. Ferguson sees enough volume to consider a start more often than not, but the Chiefs allow the seventh fewest points to the position, giving up just two touchdowns to tight ends this season. With nobody on bye in Week 13, you likely have a better option than Fergalicious.

Defense/Special Teams

Dallas Cowboys: SIT

The Cowboys allow the second-most points per game in the NFL this season.
