Quarterback
Trevor Lawrence: START, QB1-2 borderline
Trevor Lawrence isn’t my favorite start this week, but he gets a plus matchup against the worst team in the league on Thanksgiving week. The Titans allow the fourth-highest yards per attempt but are middling in most other defensive statistics, likely due to a game script that allows teams to run the ball when they get up early. Tennessee has also allowed the third-most rushing TDs with 16, and there’s always a chance that TLaw can punch one in. He’s outside of my top 12 for the week, mostly because I anticipate a run-first approach, but he’s startable if you’re in a bind.
Running Back
Travis Etienne Jr.: START, RB1
Bhayshul Tuten: FLEX, RB3
Lequint Allen Jr.: SIT
A week after it appeared Bhayshul Tuten was coming for a more even split in Jacksonville’s backfield, Travis Etienne Jr. reclaimed a definitive lead role en route to 20.6 PPR points. Etienne was on the field for 65% of snaps and accounted for 68% of RB opportunities when you factor in the four targets he received to Tuten’s one. ETN is poised for another spike week against the Titans, who allow the fifth-most points and the sixth-highest explosive run rate in the league to RBs. Tuten may work as a low-end flex if the game script allows him to mix in more, but you should have better options on tap with a full 16-game slate.
Wide Receiver
Brian Thomas Jr.: FLEX, WR4
Jakobi Meyers: START, WR3
Parker Washington: FLEX, WR4
There is nothing I could possibly write in this section that would make you or me confident in firing up Brian Thomas Jr. this week. Not only is he coming off of injury (assuming he plays), but the additions of Jakobi Meyers via trade and Brenton Strange via health have only pushed his stock down further. I’d rather start Parker Washington, who has seen at least seven targets in three of his past four games while maintaining snap shares around 80%. The biggest upside probably belongs to Meyers, who has become more integrated into the offense every week and scored his first touchdown as a Jaguar in Week 12. Meyers has played out wide more often, but the return of BTJ could push him into the slot more.
Tight End
Brenton Strange: START, TE1/2 Borderline
It was a better return to action for Brenton Strange than many of us could have expected. Strange hauled in all five targets for 93 yards to pace the Jaguars in receiving while playing in 71% of snaps. The Titans are stingier against tight ends, allowing the seventh-fewest points to the position, so that combined with a more crowded receiver room puts Strange closer to the back-end TE1 range. He’s still a solid start and is available in many leagues if you’re hurting at the position.
Defense/Special Teams
Jacksonville Jaguars: STREAMER (One Week)
If you play the Titans, you are granted the title of one-week streamer. Them’s the rules.
Tennessee Titans
Quarterback
Cam Ward: SIT
Credit where credit is due: Cam Ward performed admirably against an elite Seahawks defense and had arguably his best game as a pro last week. Ward scored by land and by air, finding Chimere Dike in the fourth quarter to bring the Titans within one score. Good for Ward’s development, but we can’t recommend him as a start, even in Superflex leagues, during a week when all 32 NFL teams are active. The team situation around him is just too poor.
Running Back
Tony Pollard: SIT
Tyjae Spears: FLEX, RB3
The Jaguars’ defense is a pass-funnel unit that allows just 3.69 YPC on the ground, the third-fewest in the league. This makes Tony Pollard a clear sit with his waning efficiency in the last few weeks. Both he and Tyjae Spears caught four of five targets for 21 yards last week, but it’s the latter who is the more explosive playmaker and the more likely to reach 10 PPR points as a desperation flex. Sit both if you can, but start Spears if you absolutely must choose one.
Wide Receiver
Elic Ayomanor: SIT
Van Jefferson: SIT
Chimere Dike: FLEX, WR4
Xavier Restrepo: SIT
The Jaguars are an exploitable matchup for receivers, allowing the ninth-most receiving yards in the league, but you can’t reliably trust anybody catching passes from Ward right now. If you’re truly in a bind and need a warm body, Chimere Dike has shown promise and is worth a look, especially if Elic Ayomanor misses another game with his hamstring injury. Dike scored twice last week, one of which was on a punt return, and is actually the all-purpose yards leader in the NFL right now. Good for him. Those of you in deep dynasty formats may want to see if Xavier Restrepo is available, as he played with Ward in college and got six targets in his first game action last week.
Tight End
Chig Okonkwo: SIT
Gunnar Helm: SIT
Chig Okonkwo is putting together a decent season, all things considered, but you can find a better streamer out there. The same can be said about Gunnar Helm, who is an intriguing deep dynasty add, but nothing more.
