Seattle Seahawks

Quarterback

Sam Darnold: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex)

Since his Week 9 four-touchdown fiesta against Washington, Sam Darnold has been no bueno. At least for fantasy purposes, that is. Seattle is 3-1 over that span, but Darnold has just three touchdowns in his last four. Darnold has five picks since then as well, four coming after he spotted Capser in Week 11 against the Rams. Outside of a couple of outlier games against Bryce Young and Tua Tagovailoa, the Falcons’ defense has shut down most quarterbacks. Young is the only quarterback to throw over 300 yards against them (448!), and 50% of QBs faced have thrown for one or zero touchdowns. I’m fading Darnold in 1QB and prefer to in Superflex as well, but he’s a back-end QB2 in leagues that start multiple quarterbacks.

Running Back

Kenneth Walker III: START, borderline RB2
Zach Charbonnet: FLEX, RB3

Despite Kenneth Walker consistently showing he’s the more efficient, explosive runner out of the Seahawks’ backfield, the team is committed to using both backs. Just over the past month, Walker has bested Zach Charbonnett in yards per carry, explosive run rate, and missed tackles forced. But Charbs continues to vulture the touchdowns, scoring three to Walker’s one over that period. Walker is getting the pass game work, but because of the cannibalization of each other’s fantasy value, both are capped as inconsistent FLEX starts most weeks. They’re startable against the Falcons, though. Atlanta is a top 10 fantasy matchup for running backs, and the backs could get some extra run if Kirk Cousins‘ led offense isn’t able to move the ball against Seattle’s stout defense.

Wide Receiver

Jaxon Smith-Njigba: START, WR1
Rashid Shaheed: SIT
Cooper Kupp: SIT

Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a staple of your lineup, but did you know that his famous family member is his older brother, Canaan Smith-Njigba? Canaan is a professional baseball player who was drafted by the New York Yankees. Rashid Shaheed always has that insane spike week potential, but his fantasy value has all but evaporated since the trade to Seattle. Cooper Kupp has one game over 12 fantasy points and is no longer fantasy relevant.

Tight End

AJ Barner: tHe gLoB

You can expect a couple of catches, ~50 receiving yards, and you’re praying for a touchdown.

Defense/Special Teams

Seattle Seahawks: START

With a nice boost from Max Brosmer last week, the Seahawks are now the top fantasy defense in most formats

Atlanta Falcons

Quarterback

Kirk Cousins: SIT

A preview of Kirk Cousins against a Seahawks defense that ranks second in interceptions, third in time to pressure, and fourth in sacks.

Running Back

Bijan Robinson: START, RB1
Tyler Allgeier: SIT

Bijan Robinson is your plug-and-play stud, but did you know that his famous family member is his great-uncle, Paul Robinson? Paul was a running back for the Cincinnati Bengals who won the AFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 1968 and made two Pro Bowls. Tyler Allgeier is more of a nuisance to the upside of Robinson than a fantasy option. The Falcons’ backup has a career-high eight touchdowns but is averaging 2.4 fantasy points in games he doesn’t get in the end zone. Even in games he scores, he only averages 11.5 points. No thanks.

Wide Receiver

Drake London: *Not Practicing | START, WR2 (If Active)
Darnell Mooney: SIT

At the time of writing, Drake London had yet to practice, although he was reportedly considered “day to day”. In a lost season for the Falcons, I don’t expect them to rush him back anytime soon. If he does suit up, his top-five upside is gone with Cousins under center, but he remains a must-start considering he’ll get peppered with targets. Darnell Mooney has done nothing this season outside of the single long touchdown catch in Week 12. He’s not even worth rostering.

Tight End

Kyle Pitts Sr.: START, TE1

The only member of the Falcons whose fantasy value sees a (modest) bump with Cousins under center is Kyle Pitts. In the three games started by Cousins, Pitts sees more targets and averages almost three extra fantasy points. That’s enough to consider him a TE1, especially in a top-five fantasy matchup for tight ends against Seattle.

Defense/Special Teams

Atlanta Falcons: SIT

Since Week 8, outside of shutting down Tyler Shough and the Saints, the Falcons are allowing an average of 29.2 points per game.
