Washington Commanders

Quarterback

Jayden Daniels: START, QB1
Marcus Mariota: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex if Daniels is inactive)

At the time of writing, Jayden Daniels had not yet been cleared for contact and was scheduled for re-evaluation on Friday. We won’t know much more until then, but if he’s active, you start him. Period.

If he’s out, Marcus Mariota has been wildly mild. Minnesota doesn’t force turnovers, but they don’t give up many yards or passing touchdowns, either. He’s a fine Superflex start, but I’m not forcing him into my lineup.

Running Back

Chris Rodriguez Jr.: SIT
Jacory Croskey-Merritt: SIT
Jeremy McNichols: SIT

Not that it really matters for fantasy purposes, but Chris Rodriguez Jr. has taken command of the Washington backfield.

CRod is the only running back on the roster with at least 25 total carries in their last three games, and the only one averaging over four fantasy points per game over that span. Yes, four. None of these three should be anywhere near your starting lineup.

Wide Receiver

Terry McLaurin: START, WR3
Deebo Samuel: START, WR3

In one of the most challenging matchups a wide receiver can face, Terry McLaurin returned from a three-game absence and had his best performance of the year. Granted, overtime helped, but Scary Terry came down with seven of a whopping 14 targets, reestablishing himself as the Commanders’ WR1. Deebo Samuel had a respectable five-catch, 64-receiving-yard performance, but is nothing more than a WR3 with the return of Terry. Both are low-ceiling options against the Vikings, who have not allowed a 100-yard receiver since Week 7 or allowed one to score since Week 9.

Tight End

Zach Ertz: START, TE1

Zach Ertz is averaging nearly eight targets per game over his last four and is coming off a 10 catch, 106 yard, 10.6 fantasy point performance. Minnesota hasn’t allowed a top-10 tight end since Week 8, but Ertz’s usage places him firmly in the borderline TE1 range.

Defense/Special Teams

Washington Commanders: START

Minnesota Vikings

Quarterback

J.J. McCarthy: SIT
Max Brosmer
: SIT

Nein.

If it’s Brosmer, no-smer.

Running Back

Aaron Jones Sr.: FLEX, RB3 (If active)
Jordan Mason: FLEX, RB3 | START, RB2 (If Jones inactive)

Aaron Jones left in the second half against Seattle after reaggravating his shoulder injury and didn’t return. His status for Week 14 is a coin toss at the time of writing. Jordan Mason has been relegated to backup duty since Jones returned, but has been much more efficient and explosive in limited touches over the last four games. If Jones can play, both are startable FLEX options against the Commanders. Bump Mason to a borderline RB2 if Jones is unable to go.

Wide Receiver

Justin Jefferson: START, WR3
Jordan Addison: SIT
Jalen Nailor: SIT

Sooooooooooooo, remember how everyone (including me) said it couldn’t get worse than J.J. McCarthy?

Turns out it can.

Max Brosmer showed why he went undrafted, completing more passes to the Seattle defense than Justin Jefferson. It was floating around the interwebz how McCarthy’s 34.2 QBR in Week 12 was worse than the 39.6 QBR he would have gotten had he spiked every ball. Brosmer was worse by nearly 2 points. Jefferson got his first catch with 1:20 left in the third quarter, coming dangerously close to his first game with no catches through the first three quarters. I wanted to give JJetta a chance with someone other than McCarthy at QB, and it was not great, Bob. It pains me to say this, but Jefferson is closer to a borderline FLEX than he is a WR1. I’ll fire him up this week against the Commanders in a top-five fantasy matchup and McCarthy expected to return. But my no means a must-start. Jordan Addison is on the bench until further notice.

Tight End

T.J. Hockenson: SIT

In a wildly hilarious turn of events, T.J. Hockenson second-best fantasy performance with Brosmer under center. Hock had a season high of 59 receiving yards and tied his season high of six receptions. No matter who’s under center for Minnesota, Hockenson is useless in fantasy.

Defense/Special Teams

Minnesota Vikings: STREAMER

The Vikings’ defense ranks in the bottom 10 in takeaways, but could be a serviceable streaming option if Marcus Mariota starts. Minnesota allows the 10th fewest yards of offense per game and has totaled seven sacks over its last three.
