Miami Dolphins
Quarterback
Tua Tagovailoa: SIT
Tua Tagovailoa has been a Bryce Young-like oddity since Week 6. He’s been held without a touchdown in four of those six games, but has a random four-score game and another two-touchdown game, randomly sprinkled throughout. I’d rather take the risk on the likes of Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward than hope the Tagovaolia scratch-off is a winner this week. The Jets have only given up two passing touchdowns in their last three games.
Running Back
De’Von Achane: START, RB1
Ollie Gordon II: SIT
De’Von Achane is your plug-and-play stud, but did you know that the legendary actor Rip Torn, famous for his iconic roles in Men in Black, Dodgeball, and The Larry Sanders Show, is also an alumnus of Texas A&M University?
Wide Receiver
Jaylen Waddle: START, WR2
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine: SIT
Malik Washington: SIT
Jaylen Waddle has been disappointing in Miami’s last two games, totalling six catches for 92 yards and zero touchdowns. His status as the top option for Tua keeps him in WR2 range, but he’s a borderline option against the Jets. The Dolphins are a bottom-10 matchup for receivers, allowing just two 100-yard games all season and three receiving touchdowns to the position since Week 8.
Tight End
Darren Waller: SIT
Darren Waller returned with a whimper, catching two of three targets for 47 yards. But don’t give up on him yet if you’re looking for upside at tight end. Waller received the lone red zone target for Miami and led the team with two deep targets. Waller’s what he’s been all season, big play or bust. Unfortunately for him, the Jets have given up just four completions with an average depth of target of 20 or more yards since Week 10.
Defense/Special Teams
Miami Dolphins: STREAMER (two weeks)
Miami has held its last three opponents to 17 points or less, racking up eight sacks and six turnovers in that span. Oh, and have you seen who the Jets are trotting out on offense? They also get the toothless Steelers offense in Week 15.
New York Jets
Quarterback
Tyrod Taylor: SIT, QB2 (Startable in Superflex)
Tyrod Taylor won’t win you a week, but he certainly won’t lose you one, either. He’s scored five touchdowns in his three starts this season, and still has enough left in his legs to chip in some rushing production to boot. Please don’t go out of your way to start Ty-god, but he’s a stable QB2 for Superflex and an emergency option in 1QB leagues who can easily outperform expectations.
Running Back
Breece Hall: START, RB2
Breece Hall has been solid yet unspectacular since coming out of the bye, which is honestly a huge accomplishment considering the offense around him. Miami was once the best matchup for running backs in all the land, but they’ve mostly held them in check in the second half of the season. Hall sees enough work to remain a tough, dependable RB2 who can break a long one at any given time.
Wide Receiver
Adonai Mitchell: FLEX, WR4
John Metchie III: FLEX, WR4
AD Mitchell had a day of firsts in Week 13. The newly acquired Jet had his first career 100-yard receiving game and his first NFL touchdown, catching eight of 12 targets. Mitchell has six or more targets in each of his last three games and is a risk/reward FLEX play against the Dolphins. The big play potential has always been there, but Miami hasn’t given up much in terms of fantasy points to wide receivers. John Metchie III looked to be emerging as the de facto WR1 for the Jets with Garrett Wilson sidelined, but disappointed with 5.7 fantasy points against Atlanta. But turn that frown upside down, pal. Metchie saw a season-high eight targets, and while Wilson is out, he should still see plenty of involvement.
Tight End
Mason Taylor: SIT
I know, I know. Miami is a great matchup, and Mason Taylor had one of his three best games against them in Week 4 for a whopping 11.5 points! If you’re looking for an upside in the mid to low teens, be my guest. But I’d rather bet on the Isaiah Likelys and Darren Wallers of the world.
Defense/Special Teams
New York Jets: SIT
You’re not starting the Jets defense in any league. Even in the Jets defense-only leagues.
