San Francisco 49ers

Quarterback

Brock Purdy (Start, QB2)

Brock Purdy has had a week-plus to get healthy from the concussion he suffered – and somehow quickly got past – heading into the Week 8 loss to the Bengals. It seemed pretty evident that Purdy was still a bit off, having thrown for two interceptions and one touchdown. That said, he still did manage to pass for 365 yards and turn six rushes into 57 yards. Week 10 on paper is a good matchup against a Jaguars defense allowing the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing QBs, however, he owns a 3:5 passing touchdown-to-INT ratio since Week 6. With the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, and Tua Tagovailoa on BYE, consider Purdy a viable streaming option.

Running Backs

Christian McCaffrey (Start, RB1)

I think the only concern this week with Christian McCaffrey is just how high the odds will be for an Anytime TD wager. A touchdown this week will give him the all-time record with 18-straight games having found the end zone. CMC was a bit banged up heading into the loss against Cincy, yet he turned 12 carries into 54 yards and a score, adding six receptions on seven targets for 64 yards and another score. With another week-plus to rest, McCaffrey will remain the league’s RB1.

Wide Receivers/Tight End

Brandon Aiyuk (Start, WR3), Deebo Samuel (Start, WR3), George Kittle (Start, TE1)

Brandon Aiyuk has remained consistent as ever this season, averaging 15.6 full-PPR points per game prior to the 9ers BYE last week. Time will tell how he fares the rest of the season with Deebo Samuel likely to return to action this week from his recent shoulder/oblique injuries. But until then, consider Aiyuk a steady WR3 with WR2 upside. If Samuel does return this week, he too shall be on the WR3 radar.

Tight end George Kittle had a day against the Bengals, catching nine of 11 targets for 149 yards. The Jacksonville defense is middle-of-the-pack against opposing TEs, but Kittle has his spurts of being a target hog. As long as he remains healthy, that trend should continue in his favor.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Quarterback

Trevor Lawrence (Start, QB1)

Trevor Lawrence and the Jags are also coming off their BYE. The last we saw T-Law, he put together his highest pass-yardage total (292 vs. the Steelers) since Week 5 when he threw for 315 against the Bills. Jacksonville is on a five-game win streak, and Lawrence will look to keep rolling against a San Francisco defense that has been exploitable as of late. It’s worth noting that Lawrence has only two multi-touchdown games this season; back in Week 1 and Week 6.

Running Backs

Travis Etienne Jr. (Start, RB1)

Travis Etienne Jr. has scored at least one touchdown per game since Week 5, and he’ll look to carry that streak over into this matchup against San Fran. Etienne is also coming off his best passing-game work of the season when he caught three of six targets for 70 yards, a touchdown, and a 2-point conversion against Pittsburgh. He’s only rushed for over 100 yards once this season – Week 5 against Buffalo – but he’ll look to cross that mark against a 9ers defense allowing the 21st most fantasy points to opposing RBs this season.

Wide Receivers/Tight End

Christian Kirk (Start, WR2), Calvin Ridley (Start, FLEX), Evan Engram (Start, TE1)

In Week 8 against the Steelers, Christian Kirk had his worst game of the season since Week 1; that’s how consistent he has been. Against Pittsburgh, he had four catches on five targets for 46 scoreless yards. The 9ers defense has been leaky against opposing receivers, and Kirk should get back on track as the preferred lead receiver in this offense.

Calvin Ridley bounced back some in Week 8, catching six of 10 targets for 83 yards, which was his highest target share since 11 in Week 1. Ridley will remain a low-floor, high-ceiling option on a weekly basis behind Kirk.

Evan Engram had a big day against the Steelers in Week 8. No touchdowns – he still has zero on the year – but he caught all 10 of his targets for 88 yards. Since Week 2, Engram has averaged eight targets per game, and I’d look for that to continue against the 9ers. Continue to hold out hope that he can finally find the end zone.
